WIndows 11 bug on Canon Printer G2020

This frustrating bug still not fixed since the day i bought my Canon G2020 printer 2 months ago.
Tried all driver from manufacturer still the same.
Reinstall Windows 11 and update to latest stable build.
Every time i install or update any software, the printer will not work.
Yes this is USB connection and maybe it is related to Windows 10 usb printer bug.
The only fix is to remove printer list then restart then it will automaticaly re-add the printer.
Why Microsoft only says the bug occurs only in WIndows 10?

My Epson L120 is working fine.
Im using 2 printer G2020 and L120 on this computer. All use USB port.

The main issue I've seen with USB-connected printers has been with using the proper USB port as specified in the printer's instructions, either USB 2 [most common] or USB 3. I've not run into it yet with the newer machines that have combination USB 2/3 ports as they have usually connected with Wireless/Wi-Fi. I also have used 2 printers over the years, one LaserJet and one OfficeJet, but they connect via Ethernet cable to my Router and any computer, Wired or Wireless, that I install the software on can use them.

A listed work around is to check whether there are two printers listed, the original and a copy. The copy should work, if so you can check the port assignment for the copy in the driver properties and set the original to the same, then delete the copy.
Sounds a bit cludgy to me though, if you have a copy and it works, why bother changing the original, delete it and use the copy.
Your mileage may vary as there was no definite list of printers this might work for.

I dont have a duplicate printer name (copy 1) like this. .

The bug im experiencing only occurs if i install any software, update or games then printer will not work even it is detected.

The only fix i know is to remove printer list. Then restart it will re-add the canon printer.

This cycle every minute as long i have install or update ANY software.

I even disable windows update for a month and decline all software updae to minimize the bug.

Only my canon printer is cauaing this problem. Never experienced my epson printer

Look at the picture. Inject multi function Printer is not installed also. That is canon G2020. Windows 11 is adding that list. If i remove that inject multifuction printer the Canon G2020 will be remove also.

Ms store is adding that driver. Sometimes it skip that install but either way if install anything the bug will start.

I would set up the printer as wireless to see if the issue persists.
Uninstall the usb printer. restart.
Using the control panel on the printer, set up your network credentials.
Reinstall the printer as wireless.

Sorry but i dont know if how to setup my Canon G2020 to become wireless as this model dont come wifi hardware.
Can you share the guide?

I am so sorry. I am wrong about that. You are correct that it is a usb only printer. Apologies.
Troubleshooting a strange issue like this is not quick and easy. These are not particularly solutions but troubleshooting suggestions in no particular order to try to narrow the problem down. You may have already attempted some of these.

1. Open command prompt as administrator- type sfc /scannow Note if SFC found and fixed any corrupted files, restart and test printer again.

2. Use clean boot to eliminate software conflicts-With printer not working, boot into a clean boot state. Turn printer off then back on and see if it works. If it does not, remove and reinstall printer to get it to work. Then attempt to update or install a piece of software. Does the printer then fail to work in clean boot?
If the printer still works after updating or installing something while in a clean boot state, then you have a piece of software installed that is conflicting. Use the tutorial to use the process of elimination to narrow it down to the problematic software. Yes, this is a slow, tedious process. 3. While printer is not working, see if printer will work in safe boot.
To get into safe mode- type msconfig in search- click system configuration app-click on boot tab-click safe boot box and network box-apply-OK Restart.
Once you prove if the printer works in safe mode, go back into msconfig and uncheck safe boot, apply, OK. Restart. This will boot you back in normal mode.

4. Disconnect the printer cable. Update or install a piece of software, then plug printer back in. Is it hosed up?

Report back what you find, please.

#1. Actualy i already reinstall Windows 11 3x. Updated and non updated.
I even install first the canon G2020 then Epson L120. And reinstall Windows 11 again Epson L120 first then Canon G2020.

I update my Avast and Downgrade Nvidia.
The problem starts.
As you can see it is offline. This is right because i turn off my Canon G2020.
But when i turn the printer on. It detect that my printer is on but it is not connected. Very sure it is caused by USB bug.
All 2 picture Epson L120 is good.

Gonna try the clean boot.

Still the same.
Clean boot then restart. Canon G2020 is gone but inject multifuction printer is in the list but its not working.
Actually if a software conflict then my fresh install Win11 with no software installed, no widnows update, except firefox then install printer still causing this bug.
I believe this is caused by Windows?

Actually i also try now in clean boot state. Remove the canon g2020 and inject multifuction printer. then restart. still inject multifuction printer is installed in ms store with no driver.

To be clear Inject Multifuction Printer will appear if ms store will automaticaly install Canon Inject print utility.

Tried also disabling MS store. Still ms store will install Canon Inject print utility.

That's all the ideas I have. There are definitely known bugs in both Windows 10 and 11 regarding some usb printers, but no where have I read where updating or installing software causes them. I think it has something to do with the Canon app. Have you worked with Canon support on this issue?

Sorry its not inject but inkjet. Canon G2020 and Inkject multi function are the same printer but they cannot be Installed Together. If g2020 is listed working then inkject multi function has no driver. If g2020 is not connected even it is then the inkjet multifunction will says driver is installed.

Sometimes i can manage list the g2020 with no inkjet multifunction list on very rare ocassion with many tries that ms store will not install canon inkjet printer utility. But even no inkjet multi function listed. Still if i install or update any software the bug will start.

Very confusing scenario that no lead what cause the bug

Maybe it is related to canon driver or app. Already installed 2021 and 2022 driver no success.

Im planning to contact them in forum but never found their forum. I dont like support ticket type as this problem takes focus troubleshooting. And very hard to explain thru ticket support only.

Do they have canon printer support forum?

I think the problem is with the printer. Being you had it two months it's probably too late to return it. Does it have a warranty?

@Winuser, the printer fully works with win11 as long i will not update or install anything. If the bug occurs. I just remove the printer name list in printer and scanner then restart, it will re add the printer name and works again.

Never try this in Win10 yet.

It is still covered in warranty but full RMA is not possible.

I think canon is not ready for win11 as many of us experiencing same scenario. Inkjet multifunction is not installed

All came from win11
