have removed drivers from battery in device manager and restarted, made no difference

As you have done, Press the Windows key +X and choose Device Manager.
Expand the Batteries section, Right click the Battery (s) and Uninstall.
Then Right click ANY device and choose to Scan for Hardware Changes.
This will refresh the battery icon.

Boot into Setup (Bios) search for internal Battery and make sure it is Enabled

Try a Bios Update.

The default Windows 11 theme is "light" which makes all taskbar icons black with the taskbar color as background. If you change to dark theme or you change to custom and then light mode for apps and dark mode for Windows, then all the icons on the taskbar are white with the taskbar color as background. This is normal behavior. You can change the default power/network/sound icons if you modify the appropriate system file. For the power icons it is

C:\Windows\SystemResources\batmeter.dll.mun

You cannot modify it directly, you must first copy to another folder and modify it. Then you must change owner to the Administrators group for both the C:\Windows\SystemResources folder and the individual file, such as batmeter.dll.mun, you want to modify and then grant full access to the Administrators group for both. Then you have to do it from Command Prompt as File Explorer process must be ended first. So you replace the original file with the modified one using the appropriate commands, then you restart File Explorer for the changes to take effect. To see the custom power/network/sound icons you must first ungroup them. This is done with a utility such as Explorer Patcher. I am not sure if you can also do it with Winaero Tweaker. I used Customizer God to extract the desired icons from the respective Windows 8.1 system files and inject them in the respective Windows 11 files. So I have Windows 8.1 system icons which I find much nicer than the flat Windows 10/11 default icons. You can use any other icons you can find online.

Unfortunately since Windows 10 the Taskbar icons are monochrome and flat. The rest icons are colorful but also flat. Windows 11 have different icons which are a little nicer than Windows 10, but not as good as the Windows 7 and 8.1 3D icons. Thankfully I have extracted and kept all the respective Windows 7 and 8.1 icons and I can modify the appropriate system files to have them in Windows 10/11. Yes, it is a complicated process, especially since Windows 10 v1903 that cannot be modified directly, but it's worth it. I am not sure if utilities such as Windows Blinds make it easier, but I wouldn't pay for it to find out.
