Windows 11 constant micro accessing the HDD

I hadn't noticed this. I had a new defective ST1000DM010 time ago that vibrated a lot, not only the drive cage, even the desktop I mean the furniture, all the time not only on accesses. I returned it of course.

I have never noticed such behaviour in a HDD before I switched over to Win 11. Not on 3.1, 95, 98, 2000, XP, 7 or 10.

Regardless, I am part of the SSD revolution now.

3.11 not so much, if I recall corectly, but 95 and beyond for sure. And especially all NT versions of Windows. Windows 11 does the most Micro reading/writing though. It's just how Windows is built.

normally i have found that indexing causes that type of behaviour in a HDD
little and constant read/writes. i disable indexing on all drives HDD/SSD.

I would disable indexing, but because of the way I use Windows, I can't. I depend on indexing at all times.

If indexing is broken, my whole computer and workflow is broken.

If you have indexing enabled, that does cause more disk accesses. I use Everything Search for my search capability, much more efficient than Windows Search.
