i have my system set with that disable block downloads in explorer and it works on my system
but that is how i set my system up using Winaero.

in Winaero > behaviour > disable downloads blocking
then tick the box 'disable downloaded files from being blocked in explorer'
restart the system for this to take affect.

just to note
i didn't realise that this may bypass the new restrictions until Brink posted the link to his tutorial.

Bottom line is you have to universally disable MOTW, and doing that will reduce security. Some users will cry "but it's muh PC". NTLM credential stealing is a serious enough issue to justify this change. Unless you know every website you browse is safe.

Also not practical - I usually have to close the Explorer window or restart explorer.exe to see the preview. (on Windows 11 Pro 25H2 26200,6901)

Well, I did find a fix for my problem, a fix that was not mentioned in this (or the linked) threads.

Had one of the mentioned (and linked) solutions worked for me, I wouldn't have shared the way I tackled the issue.

there is a reason for that.

but this wave of new members who ask for help, then ignore responses given AND/OR give smartass responses to legitimate advice are the reason "the union" is beginning to strike (and no, definitely not singling you out).
its also why i've began to start looking at the posts by members who have gone unanswered for weeks or months while we 'debate' or attempt to justify answers to individuals that apparently know everything already. glad you found your solution, though.
