Solved Windows 11 keeps freezing up on me

I had been working on a screen freeze issue in another thread that seemed to be resolved (with help from zBook and glasskuter) when the BSOD hit. System is all new hardware with a clean windows 11 installation (Ryzen 5900X, Radeon 6900XT 16 GB GDDR, 64gb memory).

Ahh, you never said this was a self-build (or I missed it) You need to back up to the beginning. You are going to have to get the thing back to a clean state to troubleshoot this because we're going around in circles. Since this was a self build, did you stress test all your hardware? Since I can't make heads or tails of what has been done, the only thing I can suggest is what I posted in post 37. Reset and remove everything or another clean install without Armoury Crate or anything else. Get Windows running with nothing but its own processes and the correct drivers. If the problems exist then, there's something wrong with your build.

The logs displayed a 5 day Windows installation with 11 unexpected shutdowns and restarts.

No mini dump files were collected.

Windows 10 will provide a better hardware / software testing environment.

Upgrade the BIOS: 3702 > 3904

Start with post #30.

Clean install Windows 10 > install no drivers or applications



If the computer is stable (no unexpected shutdowns or restarts) then connect to the internet and install all drivers from the ASUS website except the bluetooth driver.

Run this script to have the optimal settings for BSOD:
Tuneup_plus_log.bat ─ Click here to go to the BSOD batch repository to download and run this batch file.

Monitor the computer for several days.
Do not install any applications.

I was waiting on installing the bios update from habit but given my other issue seemed related to ASUS software that seems like it was a flawed approach. I will do that and rebuild with 10 and see what happens. Thanks for the help.

I have confidence in my original build and components. I'm not new to hardware or software engineering but I am very rusty with debugging windows. XP, 7 and 10 along with the third-party drivers were all pretty stable when I switched to them. It seems I will get more practice in debugging now.

I upgraded the video card as my old one didn't perform well in the original testing. That seemed to go well so I switched over to my ultrawide with a higher resolution. During the upgrade of my video card drivers I installed Armoury Crate then 365 and my other applications and games. Problems started after that.

I will rebuild clean to Windows 10 next and test again. Attached files were after the W11 BSOD for completeness.

In the interest of anyone else dealing with my original slow windows slowly freezing until not even the mouse input was accepted - that issue disappeared once I removed the Armoury crate software for Windows 11.

Faced the same issue, changing the screen resolution worked for me (Source). I know it's a temporary resolution but it did worked for me. Hoping if any Windows update could fix this permanently.

True. The lower resolution at 16:9 on an older card did not have issues.

Running ultrawide at high resolution after removing Armoury crate I have not had a freeze. After updating my bios, I decided to run for a while to see if any of my issues reoccur (still no Armoury crate). I have run my non-destructive burn in tests, used "heavyload" frequently and kept my system running for 2 days 24 hours a day without a freeze or BSOD. Running all my other software as well as the Asus Fan/cpu control (no OC). Not calling it fixed yet but...

These things (freezing etc) happened to me and were caused by a faulty motherboard. Once replaced the problem vanished. Maybe yours is a lemon like mine was.

God I hope not! I am way too lazy to want to rebuild everything. So far it seems software related and resolved. I really hope.
