Windows 11 LTSC - How many people here are using it?

I'm just amateur at this PC stuff, but as I read this thread, I am pondering why so many negative thoughts on what Windows version someone want to use. I'm a member of some Tractor and Automotive forums, and no one there ever has any issues. or negative thoughts, on the Tractors or Cars/Trucks anyone drives. Can someone help me better understand this?

Windows Pro comes with pre installed apps that are a pain to remove. LTSC has only classic apps and Education strips out everything students and school administrators don't need. They both use an upgrade licence.

Norman, thanks for the follow up. I get one is probably stripped down and more efficient, but my question was, why do “some” here have a negative attitude about which one someone uses? I’ve been a member of many computer related forums for ages, and I’ve never seen anyone have negative comments/opinions on any of the OS someone used back then. Is it just a Windows 11 thing?

In this thread, I don't believe the issue raised is which version is being used but using a version via violating the EULA. They seem to take pride in it. 🤷‍♂️
Personally I don't care what OS someone uses. Why would I?

I don`t take pride in using Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC IoT or any other version of windows 11,But its what I have a license for, In fact if I could, I would move to linux permanently, however there are far to many software issues to be resolved for that to happen...

So for me and what I do, Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC IoT is ideal.....

We all come here for the same reason, that we use whatever version of windows 11 deemed necessary🙏

I always compare LTSC with win7..

Its stable, you have to manually install the software you want, instead of spending time uninstalling everything you dont want.
The OS can stay the same over time, so even several years later, the same menu is still the same. The same settings is still on the same place. The deep system modifications is still the same several years later.

Home/pro if you lock the H version to get a stable LTSC'ish version, then you stop get security updates after a while as the H version goes EOL.. and win10/11 EOL is not better then to run win7/8.1 EOL.
This is why LTSC rules.. It is a modern version of Windows 7 where you can decide to only get security updates, and keep a stable system over a long time and you dont have to re-tweak half the system after every versionupdate and go thru all settings after every update.

Home/pro version just dont work for my workflow and my demands on a over time stable system
I plan on installing 2024LTSC next year(2027).. and if MS had been nice to sell individual keys to regular non-business customers i would buy a key... as they dont, i activate with other keys anyway.
So If MS actively dont want to get paid, they dont have to, its their choice. 🤓

Volume licences are now GA. They used to be almost impossible to obtain. Now they can be had for reasonable cost from legitimate third party resellers.

They are legal. As long as the MAK is valid for the set validations allocated to it, Windows should activate it.

Yeah.. LTSC might be boring....... But.... boring is good. :-)

We talk about an OS that just is an engine to run needed software on....
When things stay the same over time (boring) that increases the workflow and productivity..... and you never get frustrated over the OS as you become forced to shift focus to "fix" the OS instead of continue working/using your computer.
So Boring is good.

All rules do have exceptions.. so do this one.
People that like to spend time under the hood tweaking with the OS on almost daily bases and like to fix broken updates, and new features to play around within the OS itself instead of software... yeah, they should not use LTSC as it is to stable and dont changes with every update. :-)

You can download the 90 day evaluation version from MS, for free.

Microsoft "provides" the means, to "legally", re-activate the evaluation version, another 2-3x times.

After this process, the software actually states "licensed", as opposed to some of the uninformed posts, from the pitch fork/sheeple mob here.

"Violation of Intended Use: The "IoT" and LTSC editions are intended for dedicated-purpose, commercial devices (e.g., ATMs, digital signs, medical equipment). Using them as a daily driver on a personal general-purpose PC breaks the designated-use terms."

"Violating intended use", is clearly, completely different, from being illegal.

A business can purchase OEM keys or VLKs, who is to stop them, from then using s/w on machines of their choice !?

Laughable.

Laughable.

If banks decide to use LTSC/IOT on staff workstations, instead of Windows 11 pro reliability roulette, with their huge Microsoft license budgets, is anyone gonna tell them no, you can't do that !?

I think not..:geek:
