Hello,

Detailed steps:
  • In the Task Manager
  • "Startup applications" tab
  • Context menu (right-click) on column title row.
  • "disk I/O at startup" and "CPU at startup" checked.
everything in those columns is at zero, both on my physical machine and on a freshly installed VM.

Is it a known (possibly already acknowledged) bug ?

There are at least 3 factors at play here:

1. Sorting of columns - You have not sorted the 2 columns you have highlighted. Click on the column title.

2. Sampling frequency of the Task Manager. To change that Settings Cog > Real time update speed > change to High will have a very slightly greater chance of populating those columns.

The speed even on High is quite slow sampling relative to those events so they are just missed.

3. Rounding of numbers for a neat display.

By chance is your machine ARM64? I just noticed those two numbers won't display on my ARM64 machine. They show fine on the intel CPU's though. Also running now won't display on ARM64.

I have posted the full content if the "startups apps" tab
Sampling frequency of the Task Manager. To change that Settings Cog > Real time update speed > change to High will have a very slightly greater chance of populating those columns.

Startup apps is not a live view, there is no refresh rate here.

Both machines (physical and virtual) are using an Intel CPU.

Meanwhile I've performed the check on another (physical) machine (my mother's).
That one runs the exact same windows version as the two others and the figures of both columns have non null value.

"Startup apps is not a live view, there is no refresh rate here."

I did not say it was a live view, strange comment.

They have changed the wording in the Task Manager, "Real time update speed", what that really means is sampling rate during the start-up.

Normal ~1 sec(1,000 mS) intervals.
High ~0.5 sec(500 mS) intervals.

Both are slow relative to an event of ~50 mS.
Those columns are of little use.

You say now virtual machine, stroll on, I'm out of this trivia.

No issues here on build 4946.
I run AMD not Intel.

I fully agree that you didn't, *I* did.
  • "Processes"
  • "Performance"
  • "App history" (that one do not change a lot since there are only cumulative values during last 30 days, link Delete App Resource Usage History in Task Manager in Windows 11)
  • "Users"
  • "Details"
  • "Services" (no counters here, so that view is only refreshed as soon as a service state change)
are live views : they are refreshed in real time and affected by "Real time update speed" setting.

  • "Startup apps"
is a *static* view. It show collected performance data during session startup for current user. Value do not change after logon when session startup is complete.
They have changed the wording in the Task Manager, "Real time update speed", what that really means is sampling rate during the start-up.

High ~0.5 sec(500 mS) intervals.

Changing "Real time update speed" has no effect (on my machines at least) on disk I/O at startup" and "CPU at startup" columns figures in "startup apps" tab.
Anyway, just to be sure, I've set it to "high" then done a full reboot.
All values for those two columns are still 0.

Meantime, on my mother's machine (with task manager default settings for "update speed"), "disk/io at startup" value for onedrive.exe is over 169 MB.
On my computer the same value for that app is 0MB (as all other values)

You say now virtual machine, stroll on, I'm out of this trivia.
Sorry, I don't understand what you mean there.

I know it's not a big deal after all. I just would be very interested to find what can make that difference.

Ok, so interesting update. My two RP machines which includes the ARM64 machine just updated from build 26100.5061 to 26100. 5067 and now all columns show on the ARM64 machine, Disk i/o, CPU at startup, and running column numbers.

[UPDATE 8/21] We are releasing Build 26100.5067 (KB5064081) today which is a small update that addresses some issues with the update itself. An additional fix is noted below.
