lol yeah looks like ms has a obsession with the recovery partition after C no matter how large the disk is lol
MS is to silly stupid to shirk another partition besides C looks like
Man you really can't make up MS stupidity

Main reason I got rid of it/ winRE partition at the end of a 1tb m.2 because it's a waste of space when if you add another partition between C and RE MS idiots can't deal with that other partition.

I moved mine in front of C as traditionally done by MS installer and just made it larger
No telling if this crappy update will abide and reuse it lol I have not installed this round of updates yet.

I disagree MS should never adjust data partitions. It is safer to adjust OS partition.

Jan 2024 Patch Tuesday Update Causing Insufficient Disk Space Errors

Apparently some people are getting errors with the Jan updates. The exact error is 0x80070643 = CBS_E_INSUFFICIENT_DISK_SPACE. To resolve the issue, increase the size of the Recovery Environment partition by 250 MB. Instructions can be found at the link below...

Hi,
Yeah it/ RE points to a system restore point and of course recovery tools/ startup repair blah....
Recovery partition aren't all that tough to recreate at the end of C as long as you have the correct strings to use and don't mind deleting the older one.
The one in front of C only requires space to create it otherwise that is where third party partition tools make it easy.
Clean install can be easy to just leave 1-2gb space before the install. make the RE later.

hi i just noticed after doing a disk check in mini tool p/w that my recovery partition has been increased from the usual 510 mb to 682 mb after windows 11 upgrade i had been planning enlarging it my self due to a certain update but found that the update was only needed on business or so machines i was getting error but not one of insufficient space so maybe MS way of getting over the error probably most people won't even realise it has been enlarged and have no idea as to why it would need it ,if anyone could advise .

My advice is to disable the recovery environment: reagentc /disable. Delete all recovery partitions. Then re-enable the recovery environment: reagentc /enable. This will put it in C:\Recovery and you don't have to mess with recovery partitions, which I find particularly useless.

Fine until a future update reinstates a recovery partition!
