Windows services and scanner issue

I am currently using Windows 11 and Epson V800 Photo scanner.
The scanner works perfectly under Windows 10.
I seem to loose the use of the scanner after the Windows restart. It seems to "loose" the Epson driver. If I go into Windows services and Stop / start the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA), the driver reappears. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver a few times as well. From the Epsom website, I have tried the latest driver as well.

And Epson looks quite aware about some troubles with W11:
""Epson will release a fix for some products in early November of 2021. Several solutions will be available. Some legacy products will not receive an update."
Crossing fingers...

If having issues with scanners and their software I put "Windows Fax and Scan" in the Search box, if the scanner is listed there it means the drivers are installed and usable, helps to narrow down the problem/s. And I can do it on Win10 and Win11 both Wired and Wireless/Wi-Fi, don't use HPs Wireless Direct with a LaserJet and OfficeJet as they are connecterd via Ethernet cable to my Router.

Yes right, drivers are installed and usable. And works fine!
But, sometimes, like Wizzard, my Epson GT-20000 - turned ON - is not "found" by Epson Scan, the scanner seems "offline"... Restarting Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) works well, but it is not "normal".

My bad, it is just a Epson Scan software update... and not a service/driver update...
I still have the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) issue (restarting the service)... But Epson Scan works fine now in Win11 ^^

I understand the Epson driver and Epson native scanning application is of TWAIN type and is affected by Windows Fax and Scan (WIA type). Why don't you just uninstall this optional feature (Windows Fax and Scan) and see what happens? To find it, go to Settings, Apps, Optional Features. If your Epson drivers is of TWAIN type it should not be affected. You just won't be able to use the WIA driver (if any) to scan, only the TWAIN which is preferable since it provides much more features and control over the image quality. Almost any photo editing application supports TWAIN scanning, For best quality set to show rather than hide the native interface from the scan settings, so you can adjust the image before scanning. For example in Adobe Acrobat by default the native interface is hidden and it just scans the whole A4 page to Acrobat. You can set it to show the interface to crop the image and change the resolution or other setting before scanning.

Your scanner appears to still be supported. Therefore, I suggest you install the Epson Software Updater v4.6.2 (dated 10/6/21) run it and let it check for and install all the latest updates and utilities.

Also don't worry about the drivers being "Windows 10" they'll work on Windows 11 just fine. I have two Epson printers - Epson Stylus Pro 3880 (2014), and an Epson XP-960 multi-function printer with scan functionality. It also used the updater and works perfectly fine.

Also, there's no need to run in run/install in Admin mode.

Good luck

Your scanner appears to still be supported. Therefore, I suggest you install the Epson Software Updater v4.6.2 (dated 10/6/21) run it and let it check for and install all the latest updates and utilities.

Also don't worry about the drivers being "Windows 10" they'll work on Windows 11 just fine. I have two Epson printers - Epson Stylus Pro 3880 (2014), and an Epson XP-960 multi-function printer with scan functionality. It also used the updater and works perfectly fine.

Also, there's no need to run in run/install in Admin mode.

Good luck

Tried this. Still not resolved. Need to stop / start the Windows Image Acquisition service (WIA)

Well, that seems rather unnecessary, but ok. And your software is newer than mine. No other suggestions.

Good luck.

Just something to consider if your printer/scanner is connected via Wi-Fi is to look for an app in the Store for your particular printer/scanner. The HP one works well.
