Windows Update error - error 0x80040154, "Class is not registered"

My Windows 11 updates failed to update to 24h2 due to error 0x80040154

I found an old post where it said SSU version mismatch was the root cause for this issue, and he was able to resolve it with SFCFix



Here is the result (in screenshot) and the export SxS.hiv file (in google drive) after running the same command in the original post, I think the 2nd to 4th need to be updated to the same version 3662
But I am not sure how the fixscript is generated... wonder if anyone has any idea and can help here. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated... I have been trying to fix this for days..

Please update or list here your computer specs properly.
At the least:
Motherboard
CPU

If your PC is Windows 11 ready, you should be able to perform an in-place upgrade to 24H2? Not certain

Uninstall ANY 3rd party AV software, restart and try again.

Otherwise:
You would need to look at the failure logs to see the cause of your failure. Depending on where in the install the failure occurs, the log can be in multiple places.
Mine rolled back so I found my particular error in the last 2 logs.
If logfiles do not direct you to what caused the error, I advise anyone to not waste his time. Either stay where you are or Bite the bullet. back up your data, and do a clean install. 24h2 will have you chasing your tail for days.

If no error message occurs, the following log files are created when an upgrade fails during installation before the computer restarts for the second time. You have to look at these logs to get an idea of what's causing the failure.

[If Windows 11 to Windows 11]
C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\panther\setupact.log
C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\panther\miglog.xml
C:\Windows\setupapi.log

[If Windows 10 to windows 11]
C:\Windows\Logs\MoSetup\BlueBox.log
C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.app.log
C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log
C:\Windows\panther\PreGatherPnPList.log
C:\Windows\panther\PostApplyPnPList.log
C:\Windows\memory.dmp

The following log files are created when an upgrade fails, and then you restore the desktop:
C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\panther\setupact.log
C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\panther\miglog.xml
C:\$Windows.~BT\sources\panther\setupapi\setupapi.dev.log
C:\$Windows.~BT\sources\panther\setupapi\setupapi.app.log
C:\Windows\memory.dmp

The following log files are created when an upgrade fails, and the installation rollback is initiated:
C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Rollback\setupact.log
C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Rollback\setupact.err

Might be as simple as resetting WU.

Windows ordinarily creates log files.

Typically computer files must be found.

You're wanting any easy fix , but when it comes to upgrading to 24h2 there is not one for some users.

Normally when an upgrade fails you do not get any "useful information". MS provides none visually except maybe a failure code in some cases. As per the info I gave you, depending on what stage the upgrade fails, logfiles are created in different locations. It is up to you to dig out the cause from the logfiles.

With all due respect, but did you even read where I told you to find the logs manually? Or where @zbook told you to gather and submit logfiles for analysis using the log collector?
Did you UNINSTALL any 3rd party AV?
