All of a sudden, volume doesn't come out when I play YouTube videos

Recently my volume stopped working when I watch YouTube videos. When that happened, I went to Output device, clicked the drop-down arrow and selected the other speaker that was there. That solved the problem. I can't remember the name of the other speaker that was there.

My volume stopped working again. Now when I select the drop-down arrow for Output device, only one option appears.

How can I fix this volume problem?

Have you tried turning the laptop OFF, and then turning it ON again. (not just a restart)
I had a similar issue on a friends ASUS laptop.
Restarting didn't fix, but turning completely OFF and then back ON, did fix the problem.

Why this worked... I have no idea, but it did.

I turned it off and left it that way for about 5 minutes, then turned it back on. Still no volume on YouTube. I tried opening the VLC Media Player and playing something and the volume doesn't work there either.

I was trying to find something like that, but I'm not sure how to find it. Do you have any recommendations?

I opened Device Manager and found these drivers under Sound, video and game controllers:

In my original screenshot, the output device is called S2318HN/NX, but for some reason S2318HN/NX isn't listed in the screenshot above. I'm thinking that if I activate one of these drivers that might solve my problem, but how do I do that?

You have selected external Monitor audio rather than the Laptop.

First question is what happens when directed to internal speakers ?
That Dell monitor does not contain internal speakers, so presumably you have external Speakers ?

For input there should be a Laptop mic, is that present in the drop down box ?
If the internal speakers and mic are not showing up then there is a driver problem. In which case download and install from Dell.

Post #7 looks like a missing driver for whatever audio chip it is. Presumably Dell still uses a service tag to get precise drivers

I went to your link. I allowed Dell to scan my laptop. Then I got this screen and clicked the Check Again button,

which brought up this screen. I clicked Download And install

It took about 10 - 15 minutes to download and install all 4 drivers, then I got this screen.

I restarted my laptop and now my volume is working again. In short, I needed new drivers.

Thank you everybody for your help.

@IvanDrago start an account with Dell [Sign In] they will always ask for the service tag. I get my driver downloads from Dell & Windows Update. I have a Dell Inspiron 15 3511 also. take care !!!

I would bet audio is muted for whatever browser you are using. It's happened to me multiple times.
Start a video in your chosen browser and unmute the video. Then go here and make sure it is not muted in settings Mine is Edge. Yours may be another browser.
