Anker 737 Powerbank - What Cable Do I Need To Charge It?

If your Dell charger is Dell Part 450-AHOM, it maxes out at 130 W (20 V at 6.5 A). The Anker docs for the 737 say they accept 5 A, either at 20 or 28 V. I agree with Brink; best not to do it with the Dell charger, without knowing whether it is USB-PD compliant.

There's another reason higher wattage should be used. Too small and it can overheat or burn and start a fire, It could be fine to top it up but batteries take a lot of power on initial charge when empty. Use factory recommended size to be safe.

You’re just jerking peoples chains when you make these threads, also it it is extremely disrespectful ignoring members answers and solutions when they have taken time out to actually care enough to respond. Everybody has pretty much given the same reply to your repeated identical questions. You started this thread and called it “Anker 737 Powerbank - What Cable Do I Need To Charge It?“ and then told us that it came with a cable.

If it's a PSU brick type charger, those are more device specific that may or may not work with the anker 737. Best not to chance it.

Well the dell xps 15 9520 uses usb-c so I am not sure if I could use it more not since it's a 130 w laptop brick charger. So you aren't sure if it's safe? Yes that is the reason I ask this.

At the moment, using the Apple 20W usb-c charger with the anker 737 and charger is under 20%. It shows charging at 18w and it is going to take over 4 hours to charge. That sounds right then? Also when you are charging the anker 737, it should feel at least a bit warm right?

Someone on anker website said I could use the dell xps 9520 charger with it... but they had to check and read something so I'm not sure they know if it is safe or not? Do most of the anker reps know the information or many have to check the information?

The xps 9520 charger is usb-c and it's a 130w charger. I'm not sure if it's that part you mention?

What are you talking about? I asked a perfect legitimate question. I bough the anker 737 and received and wanted to know how I am suppose to charge it. I didn't know you needed a usb c charger with you before this to charge it. I thought a charger would come with it... like imagine like a charger when you buy a laptop.

All I read is people say they use an anker usb c charger with it to charge and some people say they use a 100w charger. I then noticed they sell these for like 80 dollars and thought... you got to spend another 80 dollars to recharge it? To me that seemed ridiculous. There also are 65w anker chargers and I didn't even think this was necessary. So why isn't there talk about people using their iphone Apple 20W usb c charger that they use to charge their iphone for it then? So that work but it takes a long time to charge it.

I have a dell xps 15 9520 usb c charger that is 130w. I wanted to know if that would work or not. Some people here said it should work but you should not chance it but other people not here said it should work with no problem. So I'm not getting the same exact answers so what are you even talking about? The thing is if my xps laptop usb c charger works, why would I need to buy an anker usb c charger then when I already have 2 chargers that work?

I'm pretty sure this is the charger that came with my xps 15 9520 and I use this to charge my xps 15 9520 laptop.

So will this work to charge the anker 737 or not? Is it safe to use this with the anker 737 to charge?

Also, you can look at the markings on your charger. Can you see USB PD or just PD on it? You’ll need a magnifying glass or take an image with your phone, the text will probably be very small

Personally, you are taking a risk unless you either use a simple USB-C wall charger or purchase an official anker charger you know will work.

There's no guarantee and it is risky to use a PSU brick type charger that was only designed for the device it came with.

Those are your choices.

Okay. I charged the anker 737 to 100%. Now I'm trying to charge my iphone 13 mini which has 90% battery left as I want to test this.

The anker provided usb c to usb c isn't the cable that I use to charge the iphone 13 mini? I tried to use that but the other end of the cable won't fit the iphone 13 mini. I then used the iphone 13 mini charging cable to usb c and that works. The thing is when I look at the watts it's charging at, it's between 3.5 watts to 5 watts and on average it's like 3.9 watts? Is this normal?

My iphone mini 13 battery stays at 90% for over 5 minutes. What am I doing wrong here? Why is it charging 3.9 watts to maybe 4.5 watts at the most?

It just depends on what the USB-C ports are on both sides are rated at for charging.

Charging will be slow at that wattage.

If the anker usb c to usb c cable can't be plugged into the iphone 13 mini, then you can't charge it that way correct?

I used my iphone 13 mini charging cable... the one that is provided by apple when you buy the iphone and plugged it into one of the anker 737 input ports. That is the correct way right? It is charging my iphone 13 mini but battery stayed at 90% for a while.

Now... the iphone 13 mini shows battery is 93%. It shows 3 watt on average on the screen.

But if i click on screen for more information,

Total Input 69 wh

Total Output 8 wh

Does this look normal? So basically charging my iphone 13 mini is going to be very slow with this anker 737? When I charge my iphone 13 mini with the charging cable and the Apple 20W usb-c charger to an outlet, it charges much faster.

So there isn't a way to charge the iphone 13 mini faster with this anker 737 right? Thus you can't buy a special charging cable to make it charge faster?

Also, the iPhone slows charging as battery level approaches 100. The last percent can take 10 minutes. 96-99 take about 5 each, etc.

Edit: From Phone Arena testing: For example, you only get the maximum 18W-20W charging speed until you hit about 50% battery level. From there on, your iPhone will limit the power input to about 14W, and that will last until you reach about 70% battery level. Then, it will further drop to just around 9W until you reach the 80% level. Finally, from that point and until you reach a full charge, the battery will top up at 5W rates. When you reach the final percentage points, it can drop even further in the so called trickle charge speeds.

Okay this makes sense. I recall once iphone is 95% or more, it does seem to take longer to charge. I was surprised why it was stuck at 90% for several minutes but now it went up a bit.

Okay. But does those numbers appear right with what I posted above? I'm not sure what that 3 watts mean? Right now was the iphone battery is 96%, now this watt is like 1.8 watts only. It does show the total input and output and those numbers seem correct right?

Once the iphone 13 mini charges to 100% I will unplug it. Then when I do that, I would just use that anker usb c to usb cable and connect the other end to my dell xps 15 9520 laptop correct?

Also would it be similar to the iphone where the more battery the laptop has, the less watts it would show? Example say me connecting it to my laptop when it's at 100% or 90% compared to 50% or 20% or 5%?

Okay so want to see if this is normal.

When connecting the anker 737 powerbank to xps laptop, shows weak charging state, please check power charger. Had similar message with the dell pw7018lc powerbank a while back. This is normal right?

Dell xps 9520 battery is around 85% or so. I had let the xps unplugged to get the laptp battery to around 85%. Anker 737 is around 98%.

After about 35 minutes or so, the dell xps 9520 battery is close to 100%. The anker 737 battery is around 70%.

What I notice was when connecting the anker to the dell xps laptop at the beginning, it showed like almost 60 watts but it went down to around 40 watts on average. Then as the dell xps battery went up to 90% and up, the watts is under 20 watts. This is normal right? So had I connect the anker to the xps laptop when xps laptop is say 20%, then it would be at least 60 watts for a long time until the battery is at least over 80%?

Throughout the whole charging, total input is 69 wh and total output was I believe a certain number that was under 30 and now shows 31 wh. Do these numbers all sound right?
