BSOD when gaming - consistently on RDR2 and Undisputed (early access game)

Looking for some help... I'm getting consistent BSODs on certain games and dump files appear to be fairly consistent on the reason from what I can tell. The reason code on the BSOD tends to be IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL but I still don't really understand it unfortunately.

Most of the PC is quite new as I upgraded an existing rig - more or less replaced every component in the end. Most are about a month old and only the PSU has been retained (about 1 year old). I was getting system crashes under error code 4101 in Event Viewer, right after I finished the build and errors relating to nvlddmkm. Display turned off, GPU fans to max and usually a hard reset needed to recover. Tried DDU, flashing vbios to GPU. Nothing worked. BSOD, GreenSOD etc.

I restored original vBios to the GPU then wiped my old boot/system file drives and reinstalled Windows which has appeared to have resolved the errors noted above. Reinstalled a bunch of my apps I would normally use. Found that OpenRGB didn't play well and may have been linked to some crashes so I uninstalled a couple of days ago.
I have the default XMP profile active for the RAM, and did have PBO active for the CPU.

This takes us to present day, I still get BSOD when trying to game - significant load on the GPU, 4k Ultra settings as recommended by GeForce Experience. Doesn't happen on every game but consistently on RDR2 (will crash within 5 minutes of gameplay, sometimes straight to desktop, occasional BSOD) and on Undisputed (early access game, picked up today, BSOD after a few minutes gameplay).

Running on latest Nvidia drivers and this is the only graphics driver I have installed as it was released prior to my Windows reinstall. Have not tried an older driver.

Not really sure what to do next...

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL is usually a driver or memory error. @zbook or one of the other members experienced in analyzing logs will jump in to help you.

Don't get impatient. Zbook is in a different time zone but I flagged him. In the meantime, I have a couple of questions for you. (Thank you for posting your system specs.)

When you put this rig together, did you run a stress test it to make sure all your hardware was good? You should always stress test your CPU, GPU, and Ram on a new build.

Have you monitored your system's temperatures using an app such as HWMonitor to make sure it's not overheating.

Did you test your ram? If not with Memtest86 at least using the tool built in to Windows? It's called Windows Memory Diagnostic.

Are you overclocking?

Please perform the following steps:

1) Run:

2) Open device manager > click view > click show detailed information > manually expand all rows > look for any row displaying a yellow triangle with black exclamation mark or unknown device > post images or share links into this thread using one drive, drop box, or google drive


3) Open administrative command prompt and copy and paste:

msdt.exe -id WindowsUpdateDiagnostic
msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic
msdt.exe -id PowerDiagnostic

4) The RAM speed at the time of the log collection 3600 was higher than the CPU supported speed (3200).
Turn off XMP during the troubleshooting


5) Please post links displaying:

a) the RAM Qualified Vendor List (QVL) > report whether the installed RAM is or is not on the QVL

b) BIOS upgrade list > report whether the BIOS is or is not up to date

Current BIOS: P1.80

Installed RAM: F4-3600C16-16GTZN


6) For new BSOD post a new V2 share link into the newest post

Be reminded "early release" games are just that... early releases with lots of stuff to be worked out. In short, it may not be your system.

Suggest you check the "early access" game isn't the issue before tearing your PC apart in chasing something not "PC" related.

Just as a heads-up, GeForce Experience has been linked to PC crashes. I had to uninstall mine to keep my PC from rebooting. He may want to install a new nVidia driver without installing GeForce Experience and see if that helps.
