Can't figure this out.......Help?

Back when the method of changing the one DLL file to install Windows 11 on machines that did not meet hardware requirements I used that method to do clean installs on 2 laptops and one desktop that I own. All are running great. I just noticed something strange though. My two laptops are now on Windows 11 version 21H2 22000.588 and my desktop is on Windows 11 version 21H2 22000.556. I have checked Windows Update and it says all are up to date. Any ideas how they may have gotten out of sync on builds? What caught my eye was the watermark showed up on the two laptops, ( I was able to remove it using regedit ) but not on the desktop. I looked on the ChangeWindows site and it says that the 21H2 22000.556 is a GAC Build? I kind of regret installing Windows 11 on all my machines since I was a Windows Insider from almost day one and now I have no testing machines left for Windows 10. I have never been one to go backwards when it comes to technology. Guess I am going to have to spend some money on a machine that will be compatible to test Windows 11. Any help on my weird issue would be greatly appreciated and since this is my first post here a big shout out to everyone!!!

Are you signed up as an Insider? 22000..588 is only being delivered to Insiders in the Beta and Release Preview rings. For machines not on the Insider program 22000.556 is the latest build.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    Info for 2021-2026:
    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, 1920x1080 touchscreen, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine. As its new home has an existing digital licence for Pro I've been able to upgrade the migrated OS from Home to Pro.

I am an Insider but I am not testing Windows 11 because none of my machines are compatible. I used a Windows 11 ISO, modified the DLL file and then installed a clean build on all 3 of my machines which worked flawlessly. That was several months ago. Just now noticed the issue that I posted in my first thread. Can't figure out how the machines got out of sync on builds. Why did they all not update to same versions from Windows Update? I can't figure it out......Why is the one machine on a GAC? ????

Do you want them all to get the release Preview builds, or all to be on GAC? Either way, this tutorial should help get them all on the same track. It may be something as simple as the Insider setting need changing (Option One). If not, then Option Two has reg file to make the changes.

Urk! I went to uupDump and got 22000.588 because it said for regular users. :( Guess I have another clean install to do?

Probably not. It's in Release preview at present, that normally means that it will be issued as an optional preview update for the rest of us some time next week.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    Info for 2021-2026:
    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    My SYSTEM FOUR was a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e (1st gen) type 20DA, Celeron N2930, 8GB RAM, 256GB ssd. Unsupported device. This has now been sold. It has been replaced by my System Eight.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 1TB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Experimental 263xx and 29xxx builds (and a few others) as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, 1920x1080 touchscreen, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine. As its new home has an existing digital licence for Pro I've been able to upgrade the migrated OS from Home to Pro.

    My SYSTEM EIGHT is a 2-in-1 convertible Lenovo Yoga 11e (5th gen) type 20LN, Celeron N4120, 8GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, a supported device for Windows 11. Currently running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Experimental 263xx and 29xxx builds as native boot vhdx.
