Thanks Garlin. As you may have noticed from my batch file, I have little experience of Powershell let alone using c/wscript.

With your code, I managed to condense it to a Shortlink Target which seems to work also.

I primarily access my files using my smartphone so no choice but to use the cloud but wanted to save them to local folder in case I can't access offline. But in the end, I tested saving a few documents today and found I can access them when not connected to the internet. Was just baffled when I'm choosing This PC to save but it doesn't actually save to the Document folder under This PC - Windows C. I have to actually drill deeper after I choose This PC to my local folder in Windows in order for it to save there - but then it doesn't save in the other locations (This PC is mapped to OneDrive Documents), therefore it does not sync to OneDrive. LOL. I spoke with Microsoft Support and was told how to save files to the local folder (change the location a document saves to and the Documents folder under Windows users is an option), and they will sync to OneDrive. Another alternative is to manually copy/paste my files from the other OneDrive Documents locations to the local folder. (my work did it that way when staff needed to work on a document - downloaded to local, worked on form, uploaded back to cloud storage) SOOOO In the end - saving to Windows - Users - Documents and to OneDrive Documents do not sync to eachother, unless I configure it to. What do I have to backup if my files are already on the cloud? LOL. I can't save them locally!

You can assign FOLDER to any folder alias (Home, Documents, Pictures, Desktop) or a real path like C:\Windows

set FOLDER=Desktop
set FOLDER=C:\Windows
set FOLDER=Network\PC2

If you launch another Explorer from this copy, the new instance will be in the new Ribbon. To open multiple Explorers using the classic UI, just run the batch script again and manually navigate to a different folder path. Again, the up-arrow hack only works on one Explorer window at a time.

Just to add that, once a Ribboned Explorer is opened and in view, with this method, new instances of it can be opened using the normal shortcut Ctrl + n.

I'm sorry to have to ask this but I don't understand what you're saying. I am not familiar with the set Folder=??? command. How and where would I use that command? Also what would it do, where would the folder be set?

I'm talking about inside the batch file, you edit the "set FOLDER=" line. Copy the entire block of script to Notepad, change the one line, save as ClassicRibbon.bat (or whatever name). Now you've picked the starting folder location to display.

If you're happy to start with "Home", then no editing is required.

OK, so I must be missing something here again. I looked at all the "bat" files I could find in this thread and I didn't find a "set FOLDER" line in any of them. What bat file are you referring to that I could make that change in?

Hum, after using FreeBooter attached batch file in post #2 I picked up this:
"Malware.Trace (x64) HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS NT\CURRENTVERSION\WINLOGON#SHELL"
in SuperAntiMalware.exe. I allowed SuperAntiMalware to remove it and everything runs the same. I suspect it is a false positive but will ask the poster about it, huh @FreeBooter?

Had to remove the registry change (HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS NT\CURRENTVERSION\WINLOGON#SHELL) from my PC becaause Window Defender locked up my PC in a scan over it. Weird to say the least.
