Did you try the BIOS reset as suggested?

Thanks.. so the RAM type isn't the issue. I would try to reinstall the old RAM and see if the issue clears up. There could have been some things happen when you installed the new RAM. At the moment I'm at a loss

How do you do a BIOS Reset? Also... the computer will not power up at all upon shutting down. It just remains black with the power light not illuminated. To get it to start, I have to hold down the Start and B key and then power button after a few seconds, which it will start but it takes me to the BIOS Recovery screen.

You get into the BIOS by pressing F10, or if you manage to get the recovery screen up, then there is the same option there too

Actually both old and new are DDR3, PC3L, the original is DDR3 as is DDR3L the new ram. The L signifies low voltage.
DDR3 and DDR4 are different sockets / number of pins and is longer.
DDR3 has 204 pins, DDR4 has 260 so impossible to fit the wrong type of ram.

The reason for the power switch not getting a good connection is because one of the black clips has come loose and I am having an issue putting it back on. So now I am back to square one. What can be done to fix this? It's on the motherboard.
