yes .. as @CornishRattler explained, it blocks piracy, I am not sure about others country law, in my country its fine to use pirated applications for home users, even most of the people here use illegal stuffs except for corporate users and company devices are mandatory to use every single application to be licensed legally ..

My apologies then, I thought Malayasia did have anti piracy laws regarding software use (I must be reading different incorrect articles then)

I believed they had the laws in place but they are not policed or enforced very well, which in turn does NOT make it legal.
