You can do all that without Armoury Crate.
I'm an ASUS fan boy, and I wouldn't touch Armoury Crate with a ten foot pole.

People having been trashing Armoury Crate for a long time but I have yet to see anyone saying why. How about enlightening me on this? Also what alternative(s) is/are better?

There is no "easy" driver tool. If there was it would go viral in 1/2 second.
Laptops have their own updater tools.

For custom built desktops... it's best just to do it the old fashioned way... manually. ^^

Download the motherboard manual. Get the drivers for your mobo from the manufacturers site.

Armoury Crate good or bad?

I don't understand why you posted links for the support for the ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming motherboard. What does that have to do with Armoury Crate? I go to the support site for the ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming WiFI II motherboard every few months to check on any updates. In fact I was just there on June 11th.

BTW, I go to the support site for all my motherboards after I buy them. Naturally there aren't many updates after a few years but I check anyways.

I read some of these threads about Armoury Crate and got bored real fast. A bunch of paranoid posters and a few people sometimes saying they had no problems with it. The main thing is that there is no requirement to install Armoury Crate. If you like it then install and use it otherwise don't.

It's up to you ofc. I'm on my 6th or 7th ASUS board, and Armoury Crate causes more problems than it's worth.

My Z690-E motherboard apparently wants to download and install Armoury Crate automatically. There's a BIOS setting for that. I've disabled it.

I usually avoid large MB utilities. Others may want one.

In the threads I found from links it was mostly vague allegations that Armoury Crate was bad. Since you are saying it was causing problems for you then how about saying what they were. Its possible that I might have the same problems and not know it.

It was quite a while ago.

All I do remember is that it wasn't "worth" having it on the computer.

Armoury Crate offers me no useful functionality for me. I recently fixed a friend's laptop suffering BSODs which was due to Dell Support & Assist. Hence my reluctance to install manufacturer's bloatware.

You have to be careful where you get your information. It is not informative if the same unsubstantiated information is repeated a million times. Regarding Armoury Crate. I am not going to believe it is bad just because a lot of people say so without proof. I will keep using it as long as it is useful for me.

Most computer manufacturers have what some people call bloatware. It is up to each person to decide if it is useful or not. Or if is causing more problems that it is worth then remove it. I guess if I had OCD I would just rip it all out. Then it wouldn't matter if it was useful or not.

I don't recall what Armoury Crate did that inspired me to uninstall it.

It may have simply been that it didn't serve any purpose that I felt I needed. (I've done driver updates manually for decades, for example.)
