Future 'rug-pull' for unsupported Win 11 installs?


I am a Computer Technician and I have installed Windows 11 on many unsupported computers (I will provide support if needed). In every single case all updates installed successfully without compatibility check. The hack is needed only for the initial installation of Windows 11 or for upgrading to the next build. In any other update compatibility is never checked. Regarding security, read my previous posts.

And now my own logic, which is probably seriously flawed. However, with information from the two sources above, I'm not so sure just how flawed my logic is.

Windows 11 was announced approximately 8 months ago; With that release, many, many, many, users are less than happy with the new Windows 11 because of the "deprecation" of so many valued features in Windows 10.

So, I'm wondering why on earth Microsoft would commit the resources necessary to building up a new Windows version so soon after release of Windows 11.

That was posted back in October so things may have changed by since then. If MS does start working on Windows 12 in March, it will be a while before any kind of release.

From everything I've found, there is absolutely no announcement from Microsoft that a Windows 12 is in the works. That more than anything else is why I'm inclined to believe Windows 12 is pie in the sky. :-)

MS has been working with AMD and Intel on the Pluton Chip for the added security offered. The question I have is can Windows 11 be made to use the Proton Chip to its full potential and still work with the devices that are on the market today.

One sure bet - next version of Windows after W12 will be W14.

I agree, why would MS take on the task of having 3 OS systems running at the same time. 10 will be actively supported until 2025, 11 until 2030(ish) and then also 12, unless they've decided that 11 is not worth carrying on with and ditch it in short order.
Maybe 12 is an annual upgrade from 11? That would kinda follow MacOS going away from 10xxxx for years to last year being MacOS 11 and this year MacOS 12, no additional hardware needed but older devices just dropping off the supported list gradually

The MS guy didn't flat-out deny the advent of Windows 12 either. Personally, if it turns out to be true, would be a pretty douche move, IMHO, just 5 months after Win 11 officially released. But I'm beginning to believe now it's just bull.

Dropping support for older computers is a bad habit of Apple. Hopefully Microsoft will allow Windows 11 or newer to run in old hardware, even not officially supported. Dropping support for 32-bit systems already left out many old tablets and netbooks.

And now my own logic, which is probably seriously flawed. However, with information from the two sources above, I'm not so sure just how flawed my logic is.

Windows 11 was announced approximately 8 months ago; With that release, many, many, many, users are less than happy with the new Windows 11 because of the "deprecation" of so many valued features in Windows 10.

So, I'm wondering why on earth Microsoft would commit the resources necessary to building up a new Windows version so soon after release of Windows 11.

They can divert the resources they need from 11 to the development of 12 plus the main change in 12 is security and to the GUI and I doubt that take much staff to accomplish

I have read that installing the latest iOS on older Apple devices or the latest Mac OS on older Apple computers makes them much slower. The user eventually believes his device is useless and replaces it with a new Apple device. Very dirty trick to boost sales! At least an old device running Windows 10 or 11 has exactly the same performance running Windows 7 provided all the drivers are properly installed and updated. Occasionally they might be a little faster due to better resources management.

They can, but it's doubtful Windows 11 would be abandoned in favor of Windows 12 . . . Especially since Windows 11 is so new. I'm pretty sure the Proton thing has been in the works a lot longer than Windows 11. Those things don't happen overnight.

Apple got banged for that but it was for iPhones and iPads. As far as I recall every OS they have put out has always had a cut off for older Macs and Macbooks
