I have a *.htm file on local disk I want to pin to the taskbar.

Have tried every trick I can google up but no joy... drag and drop works with other things but not this file or a shortcut of this file. "Pin to ...." is greyed out both in the shortcut menu for the file and a shortcut to the file, and even Edge has that greyed out if I open the file with Edge and try to use the "Pin to ...." options there.

Thank you for any help.

Kind regards.

Thank you for any help.
Keep the original file in a stationary location, change it's extension to .exe, drag it to the Taskbar...

then change the original back to .htm, then the pinned shortcut back to .htm, restart Explorer.

Create a shortcut to the file then manually edit its properties target entry [right-click, Properties, Shortcut tab] by putting
explorer.exe followed by a space
before the stuff that's in there already i.e. the path-filename of the file.

The modified shortcut can then be pinned to the Taskbar.
It can then be pinned.png

All the best,

In edge>menu> hover over apps>choose install website as app. That will allow you to pin it to the taskbar. I just did this with a website (gmail).

Thanks, but didn't work for me. The install as app option on the menu is greyed out. I think it's because I'm pinning a local .htm file. When I browse to an internet site in Edge and then try, the option is available.

Windows 11 periodically removes my shortcut from the taskbar. Grrrrr. Not hard to put back thanks to the above help, but still...
