HP Printer Problem

I am running Windows 11 and have an HP Printer 8710 installed wirelessly.

Printer works just fine and communicates with my desktop with no problems.

The problem I am having is, SCANNING. My HP comes with a bit of software called the "HP Printer Assistant" . From there I can choose to scan a document. When I try to scan I get the error message that there is a communications error. I have uninstalled and reinstalled and checked everything I could think of. My printer is set to default correctly as well. I also ran HP Print and Scan doctor, did nothing.

What could this be ?

    The case fan and CPU cooler were after purchase upgrades...the i7 cpu runs hot and the OE solution can best be described as marginal when CPU intensive apps are used.
    ALSO added a VRM and SSD passive heatsinks.
Have you tried unplugging the printer for a couple of minutes to let it reset itself?

This may not help much, but I have a HP Envy Pro 6400 that is also connected via Wi-Fi and use it with a W10 and W11 system. It was originally installed from the W10 system and I use the "HP Smart" utility to manage printing and scanning. But on my W11 system, the "HP Smart" utility says that the printer/scanner is off line and says it is not installed. So I installed a simple utility called "Scan" from the MS Store. That utility worked just fine. The only issue I found is that you can't create multi-paged documents with it.

Have you tried using the HP utility Print & Scan Doctor? It is available on their website. You can use the following link to download it;

The app has been able to fix a few problems I have encountered.
