I've been testing this image viewer.
It's very nice. And the EXIF functionality using ExifTool by Phil Harvey works nicely.

Very slow to load (on my system). Approximately 8 seconds every single time, vs all the other viewers I tried (almost instantly).
Interface is relatively cluttered compared to Honeyview, my preferred viewer.

How can you call it cluttered. That would be the last word that I'd use to describe it. I call it minimalistic, which is exactly what I want in an image viewer.

If I want image tools, I'll use an image editor. They are two different tools for two different tasks.

Here is a screenshot of mine. I added more buttons to the toolbar, so it was even more minimalistic before I did that.
By the way, it opens almost instantly for me.

I have tried Honeyview, but it has some very obvious shortcomings.
One that instantly comes to mind is the inability to paste a screenshot from the clipboard. I also don't like the keyboard image scrolling functionality.

I have only tried Irfanview and Faststone on Windows. Found Faststone to be better in terms of UI.

On Mac, I have been using XnViewMP. It is good. But just found another excellent app: qView. It is the best I found so far for basic picture viewing, and having the ability to browse through other pictures within the folder when clicking on an image in Finder. It is an extremely basic feature but unfortunately missing from most gallery apps for macOS.

qView is also available for Windows and Linux. You should check it out.

I brought Image Glass from the MS store and have been using it for the last month or so. It seems light weight and fast.

I've used ImageGlass and IrfanView side by side, and it seems that IFview is still subjectively slightly faster. I've decided to keep both of them around, though, because both are phenomenal programs.

Using Imageglass to cull my photos.
Does anyone know if/ how to select a group of photos from the preview pan to delete?
(I have mine set tothe side of the monitor and in rows of 3 images for faster culling.

I used IrfanView years ago.
I'm not sure why I dropped it. I still think it's OK.

As I said before. I like an image viewer to be fast with minimal editing tools. I think that's why Windows Photo Viewer is so popular.
For image editing, I use proper image editing tools. These editing tools will always be slower to open than a slick viewer.

I think some viewers tend to cross the boundaries into editing a bit too far. Neither ImageGlass or IrfanView do that.

I've always found Photos takes too long to load images versus IrfanView, but, admittedly, I haven't tried using Photos on my modern rig, that was always on the old i7 965 EE rig (ancient when Windows 10 first came out lol).

I use IFV to view images in full screen with black background, and it loads even very large images I throw at it, like tens of MB sized TIFFs and BMPs almost instantaneously, so I've just stuck with it. I don't do any real editing in IFV< I revert to Paint.NET for editing, but ImageGlass looks pretty, even if being slightly slower than IFV.

One day soon I may sit down and take a look at all three SxSxS and do a better comparison that is less subjective and more objective.

The developer has renamed the Program Files folder name from "ImageGlass" to "ImageGlass Kobe", which leaves a redundant ImageGlass folder behind. I decided to save the configuration files and themes and completely uninstall it, then reinstall it.

There are already reports on GitHub of issues, probably due to the folder name change, so I decided to play it safe and do the above.

Shoud I download the newest Kobe version? or are you guys downloading the Moon version? I assume the moon version is basically like a beta release. And are you installing or using the portable version. Which one do you suggest?
Then if i install this, my last question would be are you disabling windows photo viewer somehow? or uninstalling it somehow? Please let me know. TY

EDIT:
After further review, they say its 100 percent free off their website, but then says they have a paid app on MS Store. Um so why would they give a free version on their site yet its 10 bucks on MS Store? Who would download it for 10 bucks from the store except obviously those in support of the apps future. Which is great but you get what I mean considering times are tough everyone will install the free one.
