Try smashing a HDD until the platters inside get destroyed. It's not as easy as it looks.

Have you ever seen a platter from inside of a HDD? It's easy to smash the outer case and circuit board. Destroying the platters that the data is saved to is another story.

Are the platters inside destroyed enough to be unreadable? If the platters aren't damaged enough the data can be recovered.

Interestingly enough I realised Usb stocks could be the same - I smashed that and threw it on a fire. But had a failed external drive with all my backups on that needs sorting it. Dismantled it as much as I could and it’s still sitting on the coffee table. Deciding what to do with that.

We do have an air rifle but I’m not a good shot :sneaky:

Awesome tactics, wait 'till it's sunny to attack. Not sure it would be a quick conflict though as that HDD body armour is notoriously slow to load :D
