Solved KB4023057 (again). Why?

Denis,

Doesn't the fact that this damn'd update keeps trying (and failing) every day for over a week seem to you to signify that there's a problem?

I have two W11 Pro 832 machines (plus one W10 Pro up-to-date) running simultaneously in my small office here at home, and this machine is the only one having a problem with this update (and recording an install failure every day).

Error 1900401 is mentioned in several TenForums threads in relation to Windows update and one of them reported that a Repair install was ultimately the solution. I suspect this will be true for Windows 11 as well.

Did one last week on the third day of the (failed) nuisance update appearing in my update history. Didn't change a thing except that I had to do all of my customizations (mostly @Brink reg edits) again.

@Ghot is absolutely right. That same update has applied 7 times since 8/1/21 for me. WTH, has MS lost it that they are so lazy they can't apply a different knowledge base number every time WU components are updated? 22H2 will probably straighten it out or a repair install using the newest iso may do it too. Of course 22H2 may depend on the latest version of KB4023057 being in place before it will install. What do the rest of you guys think?

Hi, old friend,

Just did yet another in-place from the latest ISO, and this time, I asked the installer to include the updates. We'll see whether the d ___ d thing tries to install tomorrow AM.

I think you've made a smart move, Dan. I'm just flabbergasted to learn the same KB is being used over and over and combining 10 and 11, no less. But then, when I think about it, it's not the first thing MS has done to dumbfound me. At my age, it doesn't take much.

A sincere "Thank You" to all of you who pitched in on this annoyance. It's over, done, kaput.

Several hours after I finished the in-place repair with all updates included, WU must have run a routine check, and guess what:

I am so happy to have this behind me. Pleasingly, when WU succeeded in installing the thorn-in-my-flesh, it obliterated all of the failed installs from my update history. The lists you see in my posts #1 and #29 above are now gone, and the listing in the image immediately above these phrases is all that's left that refers to 4023057.
