Hello Windows Insiders, today we’re releasing Windows 11 Build 26100.2152 (KB5044384) to Insiders in the Release Preview Channel on Windows 11, version 24H2 (Build 26100).

Below is a summary of the new features and improvements included as part of this update separated into two sections: gradual rollout and normal rollout. The bold text within the brackets indicates the item or area of the change we are documenting.

Gradual rollout​

The following features and improvements might not be available to all users because they will roll out gradually. Text bolded in brackets indicate the area of the change being documented.
  • [Start menu] New! You can directly access content on your mobile device from the Start menu on your PC. Using this feature, you can view your device’s battery status and connectivity, access your voice messages, calls, and photos, and pick up where you left off with the latest activities on your device. Only Android users who are already connected using Phone Link can get this feature. iOS support will be coming later. To manage this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Start. All I saw was that "File and printer sharing" here got turned off after the update.
I just turned the option back on and everything seems to work fine. 🤷‍♂️
Another difference I noticed is "File and printer Sharing (Restrictive)" is checked, I did not notice that before this update. 😎

See the last edit on my previous post for the settings. Restrictive it was enabled after the update as it shows.
And yes, I can browse my share folder from another PC.

Tried with this setting below too. I don't use SMB.

Since I don't use SMBDirect, I'll try without restrictive to see what happens. 😎

I confirm, had to enable Restrictive to get it to work, I only left it on for Private.

Another oddity with this build, all of a sudden if I click on the 3 dots on the File Explorer Toolbar, the menu that appears scrolls up, and most of the items cannot be used. Always used to scroll down.

It looks that "File and printer Sharing (Restrictive)" is sufficient to access the shared folder on the PC, unfortunately it does not eliminate the warning message below which only goes away if the standard "File and printer sharing" is enabled.

Given the same functionality and an improved security, I think the "File and printer Sharing (Restrictive)" alone should also turn off this message below, but it does not. 😉

Below are two screenshots of my Windows Firewall. One before I installed KB5044384 and one after. File and Printer sharing is greyed out after the installation of KB5044384. I clicked on the "Change Settings" button and unticked, then reticked it. It is no longer greyed out, but my network sharing is still broken.

So, I still don't know how to fix this KB5044384 issue.

I guess that I am rather late to this conversation, but I seem to have permanently resolved this on one of my systems by performing a network reset:
