Hi, I had to buy my asus laptop in france but I am used to type on a qwerty. I am new to the laptop but also to windows 11. I added the qwerty keyboard proposed by windows but did not find how to generate the accents in french. i know i can switch, but it s difficult and the on screen keyboard does not match exactely with the one on my laptop. i have to write in french and german too and it would be great to get hint how I could make it easier for me. i tried to ask the asus services but they have no idea and i never got the answer promised. i want to add that initially i tried to have the system in english but had to switch it back to french. a customer service attendant told me that otherwise my asus would be too confused.... copilot and claude tried their best but could not find a solution.

I have a

You may find the United States-International keyboard layout easier than switching between French and standard US layouts. Go to Settings → Time & language → Language & region → French → Language options → Keyboards → Add a keyboard, then look for United States-International. With the US-International layout you can keep a QWERTY-style layout while typing French accented characters using key combinations. For example, ' followed by e gives é, and ` followed by e gives è. You can also switch installed keyboard layouts quickly with Win + Space. Since your physical keyboard was made for the French market, the labels printed on the keys will still be AZERTY, but Windows can interpret the keys using the QWERTY layout.

please see also former answer, when trying alt gr + e for instance I just get to open a new window on edge and in libre office it opens the help.. apparently windows has a hard time to download the keys for the different languages, i closed everything and but downloading is at snail s pace

sorry i am a bit confused when answering - did not realize several kind people were looking for solutions for me. now i found out that i did not download at all the keys of different languages. would you know an extension of edge or brave allowing me to type the special keys without switching language. the altgr and crtl shift solutions are already attributed to other functions in libre office and on edge
