Laptop (Asus) not waking from sleep..

Yeah maybe you're right. Will aim to do it over the weekend when I don't have to work. Will download Macrium and see how create an image. Thank you for the idea!

And keep creating Macrium backups every change of season (or as often as you like) so you have something more recent to go back to in case you have issues again in the future when an update breaks your computer again.
I personally have a dedicated 2TB external drive just for image backups of my PCs.
Let me know if you need help with Macrium. But I am sure a lot of people here can help you with it also.

I usually pull down the one under the actual computer model itself.
Will give this a go before doing a full restore, thanks @hsehestedt. I the risk of sounding like an idiot (I'd rather ask), do I include the NVIDIA driver or just the Intel Iris ones? Will the newer nvidia drivers not just overwrite the original install files?

Not really! This is strange problem and any and all suggestion are needed to fix it. @ConfusedRob said the problem goes away when the battery is removed, has me scratching my head.

It is indeed a bit odd @Winuser. Was hoping I could do a clean install this weekend but have ended up having to work, will get it done asap and update everyone when I've done it..

Hope everyone is having an awesome weekend.

I've had a similar issue on several Asus laptops (vivobook s14), which happened after formating the system. I, also thought that the problem lied with sleep mode. But to my surprise, after disabling screen turn off, the problem dissapeared, and can make the laptop go into sleep mode and wake from it without issues. Just make sure to dissable screen off for Battery and AC.

Hope it helps you.

Hi Glasskuter,
This thread is 8 months old, but I have this "burning" question about Modern standby that Asus support is unable to answer: My system 2 supports Modern standby and if I wait or press the Power button (configured for Sleep mode) it goes to sleep mode with the white blinking LED and wakes when pressing any key. But when I close and open the lid it wakes but I get 2 win32k warnings 700 and 701 (old W10 errors) about Power manager (see attached). I tried to disable the Win32k Event log in Event Viewer and registry but cannot. There is this ErP setting in Asus Bios that is disabled, should I enable that? Can you think of any other Asus BIOS setting that will stop these pesky Event warnings. I tried all different Power Plan settings and Lid actions, disabled Fast Startup and Hibernate, nothing helps.
I also read about disabling Modern standby in the registry with the Command Prompt with the idea it will default to S0:
To turn off the Modern Standby feature: reg add HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power /v PlatformAoAcOverride /t REG_DWORD /d 0.

Thanks, hsehestedt for the quick reply. Unfortunately, that did not help on battery but it worked when plugged in!
I set Closing and Opening the lid to do nothing, reset the Power Plans to defaults (this deleted the Asus custom plan:() and set the laptop to Sleep Mode with the Power Button (white LED started flashing slowly). Then I closed the lid and opened the lid, still blank screen, when I pressed any button, I got the Desktop: both 700 and 701 Win32k Power manager warnings showed in Event viewer but when plugged-in NO Warnings. Possibly I have to disable Modern Standby in the W11 registry: Disable Modern Standby in Windows 10 and Windows 11 Tutorial
You think this is worth trying? There is also an item in Power in the registry Modern Sleep with a value of 7, any idea what that is doing?

Frank, I want to look at this on my laptop with Modern Standby in the morning, but before I do that, I have a couple of questions to help me better understand the situation.

First, the events that you are seeing, are those only in event viewer or are you getting some sort of error message outside of just digging in event viewer?

If I understand correctly, it sounds like you are saying that Modern Standby is working as expected with the exception that you are seeing these events in event viewer.

Do I have all of that right? Again, I just want to make sure that I fully understand before I start doing some testing.

BTW, another reason for my delay in testing until the morning is that I just happen to be doing some other testing right now related to Modern Standby. That test requires that I leave my laptop in Modern Standby until morning. If I open the lid on my laptop now, I will have to start the test all over from scratch :-)

There is this ErP setting in Asus Bios that is disabled, should I enable that?

There is also an item in Power in the registry Modern Sleep with a value of 7, any idea what that is doing?
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\ModernSleep]
"EnabledActions"=dword:00000007
Prior to Windows 10 version 2004, the method to disable Modern Standby was to delete this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\ModernSleep\EnabledActions
...and, in addition, to set CsEnabled to 0 in this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power
On Windows 11 and on Windows 10 version 2004 or later version of Windows 10, any changes you make to the above settings are ignored by Windows.

but when plugged-in NO Warnings.
This is perfectly normal. Input suppression doesn't work when plugged in. Hence, Power Manager can't fire those events. Also note, warning events are not errors. The only reason why these are warning events is to serve as a reminder that input may have been suppressed after the event.

If I open the lid on my laptop now, I will have to start the test all over from scratch :-)
are those only in event viewer: Yes, warning 700 (close the lid) and 701 (open the lid) only occur in Event Viewer, not in Reliability History or anywhere else.
Modern Standby is working as expected: When on power with my USB-C charger (Thunderbolt4) but on battery I get these warnings. All USB ports and WIFI are working OK, Sleep and hibernate (keep hibernate disabled in the registry) works OK and wake is OK, no errors as long as I don't close the lid during Sleep Mode on battery.
I am not in a rush with this, been going on for a month since I bought this VivoBook OLED, BTW the USB-C power delivery port may also have something to do with these warning, but I no longer have any USB settings in Balanced Power Plan, to check the "USB selective suspend setting" and I cannot remember if that was there before. I read to get USB settings back in Power Plan you have to uninstall all USB drivers, I am not yet sure of that.

Update: I never properly disabled input Suppression, I just disabled the lid power functions, HDMI told me how to disable it in the registry and it worked thus far (no more warnings after opening/closing the lid on battery) I will let you know if this is the fix.

If input suppression is enabled, then when the laptop is on battery power, to wake the laptop from sleep you need to press the power button. This is to assure that the laptop doesn't get woken up accidentally inside a laptop bag or backback. If input suppression is disabled, then when the laptop is on battery power, the laptop can wake up accidentally if something accidentally slides between the keyboard and the lid e.g. as a result of shaking/swinging the laptop bag or backback around.
