We now know the trade in offers that will be available to those with older V8, v7, and v6 one-time licences, and for recently purchased perpetual v8 licences.

If you purchased on or after July 1st, 2024, you have three options;
  • Continue using Reflect 8 for as long as you want. You will continue to have access to 12 months technical support from the date you bought the licenses.
  • Trade in (your existing license will be deactivated after your new license is activated) your one-time license (which has one year of support from the date of purchase) and receive a 3-year Annual Plan at no extra cost. Macrium may make loyalty offers available at the end of your 3-year term. However, even without a license, Reflect always allows you to restore/recover your data (you won’t be able to make new backups). We’ve also made your backup files open-source - it’s your data and you own it.
  • NEW: Trade in (your existing license will be deactivated after your new license is activated) your one-time license (which has one year support from the date of purchase) and receive 50% off the normal annual plan price for life (must turn on auto-renew and not allow the license to expire/lapse).
Home users have 6 months from the launch of Reflect X to decide which option suits them best. Step-by-step instructions to obtain either option from the grace period will be published this week.

For Reflect Home users who purchased V8 before July 1, 2024:
You are eligible for two options. The first option is 50% off Annual plans for life. Option 2 is our “Better than Black Friday 2024 Offer:” 3 years for the price of 2:

If you choose 50% off annual plans for life, you will have to trade in your current Reflect Home V8 license.

If you choose 3 years for the price of 2, you can keep your Reflect Home V8 license. This amount must be paid up front and at the end of the plan, customers may renew based on offers available at the time (or return to your one-time license.)

For Home V6 & V7: We are offering 3 years for the price of two. This amount must be paid up front and at the end of the plan, customers may renew based on offers available at the time (or return to your one-time license.)This offer ends March 31st 2025.

My machines are all laptops. I only have them up and running when I want to use one, so scheduling is not practical.

I back them all up manually once a month after their Patch Tuesday updates. That starts at 6.00pm UK time, and I can have up to 8 machines to update. My routine is to patch each one, clean up afterwards, then start their imaging.

It can be a long evening's work, hence my obsession with backup speed ;)

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM THREE is a Dell Latitude 5410, i7-10610U, 32GB RAM, 512GB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro.

Both my computers are laptops and there's no way I schedule backups and leave a backup drive permanently connected. I make a Macrium Reflect X image every night before shutting down. I have a fast laptop, and I want to make a fast image. I love being able to make a 211 GB image in 3 minutes and 30 seconds! Thus, I too have an obsession with backup speed! :wink:

Last night I updated & imaged my Samsung ARM laptop with Macrium X.
The Macrium X ARM update for May 2025 is v10.0.8576 as the 1st post here.

The Image of SSD got decent R/W I/O speed.
It took 3:38 to complete.
The image size was 76+ GB

My PC system disk image backup, including compression and 128bit encryption and a verification pass, takes 35 seconds. This is from a gen 4 nvme to a gen4 nvme. Not bad Macrium! This lets me do my backups on the fly, like before a windows update or other major - or even minor - change.

I do a Full backup on a Sunday morning, takes about a minute. No verification or encryption.

The daily Incremental backup takes about 10 seconds. NVme gen 5 system drive to a Gen 4 nvme

I forgot to mention mine is a full backup - might as well at that speed. I encrypt them because every once and a while I copy a backup to an external HDD.

Minutes are nothing and I never shut down as all my machines are 24/7/365 since time matters when I need to use the system. I only started getting into backups after not having luck 31 years ago and at least for a full 1TB image, it takes over 2 hours. I do leave drives permanently connected because the less plugging and unplugging, the better as the USB ports are physical and it will stop working sooner or later from physical wear and tear.

I typically disconnect my Backup drive when i'm finished with the backup, so far my usb ports seems to be working just fine. Though Desktop is on 24/7/365 typically unless i shutdown due to bad weather or Hardware maintenance--like dust clean out, or upgrade needing to be done.

I have no problem shutting down or doing a restart as neither of my computers are ever down at the same time. All my data is in OneDrive and my two computers run the same apps. Since cloud OneDrive is continually updated in real-time, I can transparently move between my computers and continue working without missing a beat. OneDrive is part of my backup strategy because I never want to lose even a byte of data as I'm working during the day.

What are you using that takes that long to back up? I back up 1/3 of a Terabyte in less than 3 minutes using Macrium Reflect X, and you're taking over two hours to back up 1TB?

Your My Computer specs show that you're still using your Dell XPS 15 9570 which debuted in 2018. I would be concerned with wear and tear on a computer that old too. I seldom have a computer that's over 3 years old, so I'm not concerned with USB ports failing with use.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven below to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

That's what happens when you have a torn retina in one eye and a hole in the retina of the other eye. Both have been surgically repaired but I have these floaters constantly. 👁️👁️

My key was auto filled in the proper update field, so I didn't have to retrieve it from one of my secure locations.

There were no problems doing the update. As indicated, a completely new installation overwrote the old one with a required reboot.

As strongly advised, I rebuilt my Rescue Media.

I made a backup. On my system, it took 3:45 to make a 251GB image.,

Same for me, key was auto filled and update was quick. Adding new boot menu was quick and easy but a full backup on a Snapdragon X Elite ARM64 is still slow as molasses, taking 45 minutes. My Macrium 8.1 on a Intel Core Ultra 9 machine takes under 4 minutes.
