I skipped the 'audio' part in selective as I like what I have for audio. This old crate took the security update without hesitation and on a clean install at that. Mind I'm typing this on the Linux side of life for the moment. When I boot back to 11 I'll know for sure if all is good. Reboots. . . Wherever would we be without them?

Never done this before, but although the option to install automatically and choose when to install is off, Nvidia installed the 591.86 driver without my saying so.

I have 582.28. It appears to be working fine. Loading Windows did take some time however. I suspect that was due to opting for a clean install. Date and time had to be resynched. Not sure if that was related or not.

Perhaps GHOT has a point. They could be lying to you. I'm surprised this old 1070 even took what it did. Oh rats, now it just occurred to me that I'm going to have to update the 3070. *sigh* Another time.

Still running 595.59. While several monitoring tools do not show all the fans, I've found that AIDA64 does. All three fans are running under load but I can only control one using Afterburner. Two of them are using the GPU's default fan curve. I tried EVGA's Precision software and could not get it to launch. :oops:

I'm on the same 581.95 build from the Dell Support site. Last time I tried the latest and greatest from NVIDIA it screwed my S0 modern standby sleep up causing a BSOD every time I tried to wake the machine. For laptops I'll stick with the manufacturer video drivers.

I used to run strictly studio and then one day I failed to pay attention and did a fresh install of everything but. I'm not certain what prompted me to do that. At any rate I didn't notice much difference graphics wise so I continued with game ready drivers minus the audio. I suppose if I were a chronic gamer I might notice a difference but this is an old card and it has served me well. As a rule I try to get my drivers from the manufacturer. There was a time when that was a thing. I suppose these days it doesn't matter so much anymore.

Gave Dell touch screen with Windows 11 to daughter and got me an OTVOC. Being a PC builder I own many desktop PCs as well. I am a father of five providing PCs, laptops, and tablets for all my family, most of which I have modified, rebuilt, or simply built from scratch. I do not own a cell phone, never have, never will.

You are right Scannerman there isn't any difference for a non-gaming user/system, usually the studio drivers are a long term tested gaming drivers with the most used creative softwares, I agree also on getting the drivers from the manufacturer which is also suggested by motherboards manufacturer.

They pulled the Studio driver for the same reasons. Currently showing 591.74 Studio driver on the Nvidia driver download as the latest.
I would check and make sure both of your GPU fans are running normally just to be on the safe side.

I'm having to use 581.57 with my 3060. All 591 or higher breaks any video conversion programs like HD Video Converter Factory Pro, Cyberlink Power Director 18, VideoReDo etc

NVIDIA drivers in the 591.xx branch (starting with 591.44 released in December 2025) introduced significant breaking changes to hardware encoding (NVENC) because they deprecated older API calls in favour of the Video Codec SDK. Many video conversion apps/tools that relied on these older API calls fail to operate correctly, leading to broken encoding or forced fallback to slower CPU software encoding.

Even after several recent updates to HD Video Converter Factory Pro, it still doesn't work :(

I recognize the name "Cyberlink" but haven't had any of their software since 2010 at the latest; the others, no idea. I can say Handbrake has been fine all along with 591 drivers and NVEnc, which has been my default transcoding method since I got my RTX 3060 Ti in 2022.
