I prefer this method, it is far easier, you create the USB Flash drive once and use it in all cases.

For upgrade from 10 to 11 or from one build of 11 into a newer build on unsupported computers:

Mount the Windows 11 ISO, run Setup but before proceeding delete the file C;\Windows.~BT\sources\appraiserres.dll from setup cache. I also click on the "Change how..." message and make sure NO updates are done during setup to avoid any conflict and BSOD. Yes, this method works only for upgrade, since on an new installation the check is done before the stage of choosing the disk partition, so you cannot delete the file before a clean installation.

PS: I have recently confirmed that you can also upgrade from Windows 8.1 directly to 11 with the same method, but I would prefer the upgrade from 10 for better compatibility.

TIP: In clean installation of Windows 11, there is a security setting enabled by default that halves the performance of the computer. Upgrades from 10 to 11 are not affected since this feature is disabled by default in 10. Search for Core Isolation and make sure the Memory Integrity is set to OFF. Also AMD Ryzen are known to suffer performance issues which are fixed if you install all latest Windows 11 updates and latest AMD drivers.

And updates from Windows update after hacks? Are fully functional and without any restrictions from MS or not? Thanks for answer :wink:

Yes. An install on an unsupported device gets all the same updates through Windows Update as a supported device. I have both, and there's no difference in the updates they get. That may change, but for now you'll be fully up to date.

No update checks compatibility, except when you want to upgrade to a newer build. Such an upgrade is not offered since the computer is unsupported. You have to manually download the new Windows 11 ISO, mount it and do the upgrade hack (delete the file). So far I have upgraded many unsupported machines with this hack, never had any problems.

This time not a very old machine. Clean installation using rufus. No tpm Legacy bios Gigabyte GA-990XA-UD3, AMD FX-4100, Gigabyte radeon HD7750.

Nothing should go wrong if the update was automatically sent by Microsoft. I had got mine on 21st and it installed smoothly.

I have installed Windows 11 successfully on my unsupported Ivy Bridge build but and am getting security updates no problem. However, I cannot download and install update KB5010795 for some reason and after running the troubleshooter it comes up with some corrupt files etc and has given me two different error codes after rebooting the machine the last one being 0x80248007.
What is this update doing I am not sure why it will not download and install this update??
Edit the build number is 22000.434

This update increases the build number to .438. Whenever similar problem has occurred with me in the past I have restored a previous version of Windows and then updated successfully to the latest version.

If you regularly install Windows updates, you should not have a problem. I believe the issues arise when an update expects some other update or component that is not there and fails.

I installed windows 11 on my old Dell xps m1330. (Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB, HDD).
I use "MediaCreationTool.bat" script. Witch generate a Windows11 ISO, bypassing compatibility checks..

HUm well the previous update I tried but could not download and install seems to have disappeared with yet another one KB5008353 that results in the same ending. Curiously enough the error code 0x80073701 which when I Googled it comes up with reference to a Windows 10 update??

Yes, I have seen that. For some weird reason Windows Update has a Windows 10 update in the list and when trying to install it fails. Just ignore it. Restart your computer, search for updates again and you should be OK.

Yes mate I did contact Microsoft support via that feedback line (for what it is worth) but haven't got anything back so far.
