Let's install Windows 11 on incompatible hardware

Even using Rufus it will fail, unless you disconnect from the internet.

I have not tried this, my wife said leave her computer alone because she only uses it for games & Face Book ! Version 21H2 (OS Build 22000.1042)

Mine has the 22H2 newest update & it runs with all MS requirements ! Now with that said i have friends who run on unsupported hardware & say they have updated to 2H22 from same set up as my wife and this works ! Any of you tried this update on unsupported machines ??

Yeah that tube vid was not using a new iso though it was made Sep-28th.

That is the same ISO that the Media Creation Tool makes today. I've just tested that and it still makes the ISO for 22H2 22621.525

Even if it works with a hacked ISO, I would rather use the official Microsoft ISO.

Hi,
Must be the all versions iso being more weird "is the one I used" than media creation tools iso which I did not use.

I always go down to the third option, download the ISO directly. I never use the Media Creation Tool.

With the tool you can still just download the ISO...

Try a new one it offers see if you have any issues editing the sources folder as I did
Figured since it was a all version home made it different ?

Why edit it? Just use the Rufus bypass but creating a USB with Rufus and just double click on the setup file without internet

Hello! I started upgrading our work HP computer (don't remember model, Intel i5-2500 CPU, 4GB RAM) from Windows 10 22H2 64-bit to Windows 11 22H2 using the latest ISO. I disabled all non-Microsoft services and startup applications, disabled Windows Defender and disconnected from the internet. At the first Setup screen, I created an empty dummy file and replaced the original. My account has Administrator rights, so I didn't have any objections deleting the original file and then copy-paste the dummy. I then proceeded with the upgrade. It must have succeeded, but unfortunately it was closing time and I could not confirm it. I was busy with a customer and my colleague shutdown the computer. I will confirm it on Monday and post details.

PS: You must be disconnected from the internet until the first restart. After the first restart when it actually installs Windows 11 you can connect, but is useless anyway as at this point you cannot yet use the computer.

Howdy, so i decided to try the option that i posted above on a very old lap top, i do mean old running Vista. And so far is says it's installing Windows 11 22H2 ! It has been 2 hrs so far installing it, but it is at 69% installing so time will tell if this work around really works !! Back Later !!!!!

What are the specs?

See my test laptop (1st system) specs, it is also a Vista era model. It runs Windows 11 22H2 fine with Windows 7 drivers and custom Intel graphics driver. Yours is faster or slower?
Mine is faster running Windows 11 64-bit (most of 4GB RAM is usable) than running Windows 10 32-bit (only 2.93GB usable).

Will post specs after i see how it runs & when (if) it installs 22H2.

I'd say anything with a dual core should run WiN11 just fine

Really? Is it a 5400RPM HDD?

Ok .... here i am on this old machine & it installed W 11 22H2 but it took roughly 3 hours ! So it does work !
It is an old Toshiba with the battery at the bottom but it went bad & i am only using it plugged into an electric cord !

It's a celeron no wonder (though a Dual Core) but probably the HDD is a 5400RPM "Moving parts" = a spinning disk" and not a SSD (Solid state Drive "no moving parts" = Flash based)

That hard drive is probably why it took so long

Mind you that most laptops have SSDs now but before these came around there were 5400RPM ones
