Yeah that is because of the cpu not tpm 1.2 is bad.

Boards have tpm ports
People bought the chips some from scalpers for 10-20x more because MS released this silly requirement
Now they have the compatibility for tpm 1.2 or maybe 2.0

So MS threw them a life line that is actually pretty surprising that MS did that.

Only bad thing might be bitlocker can't be used lol

MS never forced anyone to upgrade to 11 or buy parts they didn't need. As for bitlocker,, most main stream users don't need that. It's great for business etc but I doubt a user who just browses the web or plays games needs it

Hey I run Windows 11 on 10 years old hardware without any issues what so ever. Why? Because I can. But that does not mean I recommend everybody else should do it. Nor do I put out false information about changed system requirements. (at least not on purpose)

Minimum Windows 11 system requirements are what they are and they have not changed since they were released and revisited once. It is very unlikely they will revisit this and lower the requirements in the future. TPM2.0 gives several magnitudes better protection compared to TPM1.2. What might change is possibly added support for older (1 or 2 generations) CPUs that support TPM2.0, but that is also highly unlikely. MS stated their road forward already and it is unlikely they will change it.

Hi,
I give people credit that they can read
Feel free to add onto any warning MS provides on the link but to me this is all cpu related period.

I have used the same crack for ALL new security requirements on my x299 system which can be fully compatible so can my z490 system but I'll use the crack on it too eventually.
These new security requirements are all silly.

MS just needs to dump defender and make people install real security lol

They aren't silly at all. They provide a lot of added security. Which is very important for business users in particular. All these security features already exist in Windows 10. MS only made some of them mandatory in Windows 11.

Well, seems my unsupported System Two is getting all the same Patch Tuesday updates as a fully supported machine would do, including the latest Cumulative Update (the one that includes the latest security fixes).

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 1TB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Dev, and Canary builds (and a few others) as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.

That's interesting. So - although they say if you run it on incompatible hardware you won't get updates - you are getting updates. I wonder if this is like the thing of Windows 10 only being free for the first year (when it's still free to upgrade from W7 lol - or it was last time I tried which was a while ago now). As in - they don't want you to know it will work - they want you to buy a new laptop!

The exact wording of the statement from Microsoft is that "Devices that do not meet these system requirements will no longer be guaranteed to receive updates, including but not limited to security updates" (my bold)

I read this to mean that MS reserve the right to stop updates for unsupported devices at any time, though I suspect they won't exercise that right any time soon, if ever. But some time in the future they may want to add functions to the OS that can only work on supported devices. Rather than crashing all the unsupported ones they could pull the plug on updates. They would be able to point to that original statement should anyone complain saying 'don't say we didn't warn you'.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 1TB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Dev, and Canary builds (and a few others) as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.
Thanks for explaining that. Not sure if this has been mentioned before - but Asus creating firmware to support 6th and 7th gen computers to run W11.

Same on my ASUS Laptop. It was such a relief.

I've got new bios for x299 that only activates tpm doubt I'll ever use it though.
Easier to disable checks
Beside that is only one feature I bypassed lol

I don't care about the minimum requirements, as long as I can bypass the checks and install Windows 11. I have not confirmed the graphics card requirement, that it needs at least driver WDDM 2.0. First chance I'll try Windows 11 in a old machine with Vista drivers (WDDM 1.0) and let you know if that is true or not.
