Fair enough but the debate is really more about whether it is worth upgrading to Version X for extra features that frankly are more geared to corporate users.
Version 8.1 will continue to work for many years UNLESS a Windows change renders it obsolete. Version 7 is still used by many with no issues.
Also bear in mind, lease prices will inexorably rise over time.
With regards to "peace of mind', I have tested all the main players like AOMEI, Easeus, Hasleo, Veeam, and they are all very solid albeit (for me) less flexible.
Of course Reflect's reliability os legendary but I still periodically make a backup with AOMEI (roughly monthly) pragmatically accepting I might need to do some updates when the backup is restored for any changes over last four weeks or so).
So for existing perpetual licence users, the real question is whether you need to change from V8 (or even V7) for the new features, and what is the risk if you do not, and then decide if V X reptesents value for money.
To me it is a no brainer - if the lease price is not attractive enough, stick with V8.1 (for which I am totally happy with).
