I got a McAfee virus on my new windows 11 machine. I suspect that I got it when I tried to download Irfanview graphic software. I've been using it for more than 20 years. Now mcafee keeps popping up on the top of the screen and wants me to buy mcafee. Is there a simple way of removing this virus without reformatting the entire computer? Without reinstalling Windows?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Open your browser settings page and go to notifications. Your notifications settings may be different depending on your browser. You'll probably see one or more scam websites listed. Either remove or block them. I suggest turning off notifications all together, i.e. globally.

Might be interesting for other users with similar problems to know what you did to remove it.
Anyway I would like to know that too...
