New Version of ExplorerPatcher

No, I use Firefox.

Ha! I've never found a reason to translate before. Others have translated or told the OP to post in English. :eek1: o_O Thanks for the hint. Now I'm going to figure out how to get Firefox to translate.

On my Win11 22000.675 the EP works perfectly for me, but here i have read the Final is to 99.99 % the Win11 22H2 22621,
Windows 11 22H2 (22621) Home / Pro Online oder Offline mit lokalem Account weiterhin kein Problem but unfortunately is it in german.
At the Top:
" Microsoft has now completed the sign-off for Windows 11 22H2. Thus, 99.99% is certain that the Windows 11 22H2 will be the 22621. Already in the run-up there were the reports that Microsoft is now making it more difficult to create a local account, or to install it offline. "

It would actually be more helpful to make a list of things not working out of all the things EP offers on this supposed RTM build of Windows 11 vNext rather than translating an article that has already been copy-pasted in most if not all English speaking Windows focused publications, or wasting 10+ posts recommending some Google Translate alternative extension for Firefox. Just saying.

Furthermore, the course of action will be to wait so we find out for sure on which build will they decide on, asses the damages and see what can be done, if anything, with minimal amount of work, that is. I mean, I can happily sit on 22000-based builds that work just fine, tbh, I wish they came with an update 3 years from now, I don't have time every day to waste on fixing their OS, it's getting ridiculous.

Hello,
I think that's understandable what you say, the EP is excellent, it annoys me that MS keeps changing things, your work is really good, no Windows updates have come yet on the 22621, let's wait and see, i don't know how long we can still use the 21H2, let's wait and see,
For me the right mouse click on the Windows tile does not work, no context menu and Windows key +x does not work, left mouse on the Wifi and battery icons does not work, the weather works without problems, occasionally the Explorer hangs, I can even pin Folders to the Win10 start menu. actually not very much that doesn't work.
Best Regards

Since this is my first post in this thread I would like to start by saying a big thank you to my new hero Valinet for all his hard work with Explorer Patcher.

Latest update 22000.708 is causing some problems with EP (22000.675.45.2). The new symbols seem to be there but here's the consol log:

It's as usual the right-click and WIN+X that doesn't work without the symbol package. Otherwise all functions are there.
I am aware 22000.708 is an optional update and is not officially supported by EP but I am just mentioning it for other users what they can expect if they update.

booaah MS, yes I can confirm, last night the update to the 22000.708 installed, since then I do not get rid of the described error except to uninstall the EP, but I do not want that.

Yeah, I have installed this build on one of my machines as well, I wanted to take a look at the new Windows Spotlight powered desktop backgrounds feature. As is usual the case with these builds, the symbols took a bit to be published, a delay of around 10 hours. I have checked now, it seems they are up and running, so I suggest restarting File Explorer and everything should go just fine.

That's the thing, the log suggests exactly the contrary. It's unlikely they change the structure of the 22000-based builds as to remove any of the things I use from those files, so when it fails to find some symbol, it usually means that the actual download has failed, i.e. the file is not available on their servers or you're not connected to the Internet.

will that solve my taskbar hiccups?
There are so many variations in peoples computers, try it you only have to rename dxgi.dll reboot and delete the file if it doesn't. but do read the notes, and check settings by right clicking on the old style taskbar and selecting properties

My installation of ExplorerPatcher doesn't seem to properly refresh the Windows 10 Start Menu. I uninstalled an app, and it's still in the app list. I even restarted both ExplorerPatcher and the entire computer, yet it's still there. A phantom.

Also, I'm not sure how to pin folders to the Start Menu? In the Properties there's a link called Pin tiles to Windows 10 Start Menu from File Explorer, but it simply opens an instance of File Explorer with no particular interaction. Right clicking stuff from there doesn't show a way to pin to ExplorerPatcher's Start Menu, either.

The GitHub page for Discussions is closed, and the dev doesn't like people using the Issues system (to avoid clutter?).

* Discussions is closed because it was becoming a mess.
* Issues is not open for the public because it exists to track actual, confirmed issues, not everything that people feel is an issue/problem, but in reality it is not.
* Stuff hanging in the Windows 10 Start menu has nothing to do with ExplorerPatcher. EP only enables the old menu, however it behaves, it is its own problem, needless to say it's utterly unsupported. Try going to where that shortcut is located and manually delete it and the menu will probably update sensing the change. Also, maybe refresh the tile cache: set `ResetCache` to 1 in `HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ImmersiveShell\StateStore` and restart File Explorer afterwards.
* To pin stuff to Windows 10 Start, either downgrade to Windows 10 and pin from there, then upgrade back to Windows 11, either import over a tile configuration XML from Windows 10, either use the "Pin tiles to Windows 10 Start Menu from File Explorer" option which I fail to understand what the problem is with it - before clicking it, restart File Explorer, then click it, it opens a File Explorer window; in there, browse to the shortcut you want pinned, right click it, "Pin to Start", wait a bit, see if it is pinned, if not, do it one more time (right click, Pin to Start) and then it should pin itself just fine. Rinse and repeat for whatever you want pinned further. What's so unexpected with this, isn't this the way it's supposed to work when it comes to pinning things to the Start menu? Yeah, no special thing, just the classic "Pin to Start" option in the context menu which in that window pins to the Windows 10 Start, not the 11 one. As I said already, the tile backend changed, and everything is hardwired to the Windows 11 Start menu in Windows 11, so extra work has to be done to have the options work with the old menu. By the way, if you don't see "Pin to Start" when right clicking, click "Show more options", or disable the new immersive Windows 11 context menu altogether using EP as well.

I generally recommend searching this thread prior to asking things, most questions have already been answered and reanswered a couple of times already.

Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to fix it. I checked the two folders where start menu shortcuts reside in, and the app is not present. ResetCache hasn't solved the issue.

I indeed saw Pin to Start and used it. I tried a few times and it didn't add on the Start Menu, so I assumed it was the Win11 interaction for its own Start Menu. Anyways, after insisting on it some more as you suggested, it finally went through for the item I wanted to pin.

Yeah, I did that. I searched far and wide on GitHub (Discussions and Issues) as well as this thread. Since I didn't find solutions to my problem, I created this post.

After trying basically everything, I've decided to reinstall the program in question to then uninstall it again. The entry is now correctly removed from the app list.
