Onedrive has taken over my new computer!!

If you come through N.J. again try getting away from the turnpike and cruise around our rural areas. A few months ago my son was at a car dealership near Turnersville. He had to log into his banking account to OK a transfer to the dealer. We had to ride around until we found an arear with a strong enough signal. Where I live I have to keep a ground line because I can't always depend on my cell phone.
Ok, I got you now. Yeah, those rural areas can be a pain for internet service. Though there are some "weak" spots in my area, Hampton Roads, VA, for the most part we get pretty good service. The only time I have an issue is going through tunnels.

Anyway, I'll keep my N.J. passthroughs to the turnpike. I did have family living in Elizabeth NJ, but that was in the 70s. I myself am originally from Brooklyn NY. Now residing in VA after retiring from the Air Force.

I have one of those myself. It's just a USB to micro-USB adapter. Also have the Samsung USB-to-USB Type-C adapter (same basic design). Anyway, they came with my phones, so I didn't have to buy them.

That said, who wants to walk around with that being attached to a phone all day. And it's a sure-fire way to damage the port if it's hit against something.

22H2 does not ask anymore, it enables onedrive automatically, when MSA is used. I had to disconnect onedrive afterwards to relocate folders and enable onedrive again, since onedrive loves removing user's files at will. Ussually I was able to do it during the setup.
MSA? What is that?

Old post that seemed to have veered off the rails. To anyone who finds this post, here is the info you need.

If you missed one small option in setting up your computer you will find all your user files in Windows 11 goes to onedrive rather than residing on your PC. You can verify the location of your personal folders by right clicking on the folder-select properties-location tab. The default location should be C:\users\yourusername. If it says Onedrive instead you have a little work to do.

1. Unlink PC from Onedrive In task tray, click Onedrive icon. Click gear icon to get into Onedrive Settings. Under Account tab, select "Unlink this PC"
under Settings tab - Uncheck start Onedrive automatically with Windows.

2, TO MOVE PERSONAL FOLDERS TO THEIR DEFAULT LOCATION ON C: DRIVE see the following tutorial.

I suggest you you option 3. (bat file method) This tutorial is for your documents folder but at the bottom are links for moving all you other personal folders to their default location as well.
You will want to move documents, desktop, pictures, videos, downloads, and music folders.
Move or Restore Default Location of Documents Folder in Windows 11 Tutorial

2.
HOW TO CHANGE LOCATION OF PERSONAL FOLDERS TO A NEW STORAGE LOCATION SUCH AS A SECONDARY DRIVE TO SAVE SPACE ON PRIMARY DRIVE

  1. Open File Explorer.
  2. Navigate to your storage drive
  3. Create new folders there named Documents, Desktop, Downloads, Music, Pictures, Videos
TO MOVE FOLDER LOCATION
In the left file explorer navigation pane, RIGHT click on 'documents' folder, select properties. (NOTE: If you don't see the Documents folder in the navigation pane, then type shellersonal into the address bar of File Explorer, and press Enter to open the Documents folder no matter where it may be located.)

Click location tab

Click Move button

Click the Select Folder button.

In the explorer window that pops up, browse to the secondary drive and select the DOCUMENTS folder you created.

Click Select Folder, Click Move. click Ok

You'll see a prompt asking whether you want to move files from the old location to new location. Select YES.
To prove to yourself that it worked, when you now go to properties of the documents folders it should show location as your secondary drive.

Repeat this process for the other 5 folders you want to move to your secondary drive.

Make sure that all the files that were originally in the folders that defaulted to Onedrive are there in the new location.

Which one is your great grandmother ? You didn't say..
This thread certainly did swerve off the rails. I was one of those that guided it astray. I'll try to be more careful in the future.

My grandmother as a young girl in 1880 is on the far left next to her father, my great grandfather, and next to him is my great grandmother. It's amazing to have a family photo taken a hundred and forty-two years ago. Just look at the clothing and hair styles. My grandmother lived to be 98.
