Solved PCIe USB Cards


I would check RAM and all disks. See the disk health first. If it is below 100%, consider backing up your data and replacing it. Even if the heating is 100% do they short test. If this passes do they long test. If short test fails replace disk as soon as possible.

Clearly the USB card then. Can you sell it to a friend? There are sites that you can post an advertisement and sell it. For example in Greece we have www.insomnia.gr among others. There we discuss various technical topics and there are also user ads to sell or request a device. I bought my Intel Core-i7 3770 second hand from an Insomnia ad. If you can sell it, buy another one more compatible with your motherboard. Make an extensive Google search first to find compatible chipsets. Read other user comments or posts having the same board and using a USB card.

I have a Inateck card on order with the Asmedia chip but it does not have the type-e connector for my front panel.

The E type motherboard header is for usb3 gen2. It has been around a few years. The less budget z390 motherboards would have one. More common on cases now.

If you mean the blue larger connector, yes and there is an adapter to connect to an older USB 2.0 header, at 2.0 speed of course. I know because I build PCs. New towers have a USB 3.0 port with the larger blue connector. If you want to connect that on an older motherboard with a USB 2.0 input, there is an adapter.

There are enough USB ports. If you need a front USB port, just do what we all do, connect a USB extension cable (type A male to type A female) and stick the female side on your tower. There are also variants with base to stand on the desk for easy access. Mine also has a magnet so I can either place it on the desk or stick it on my tower top or side.

My case has the type-e lead for the front panel USB-C connectors but the mobo does not, hence the add-in card.

A strange thing has happened!

Been in contact with Gigabyte support re my windows lock-ups with USB cards. They offered no help apart from saying buy their QVL listed cards.
Yesterday Gigabyte officially released a firmware update for the MW83-RP0 &.... all is fixed!

The changelog makes no mention of bug fixes regarding PCIe but I have two cards with multiple ports in the new box & all is running well, multiple reboots & power-downs & it loads straight to Windows login!

Problem now is Windows is asking for activation, didn't think a firmware update would cause this?
