Phpmyadmin on Windows

Hi folks
phpmyadmin is a very good tool for accessing mysql type DB's -- it has been ported to windows as well.

Whilst heidisql is a great windows tool also there are things in phpmyadmin that make it really simple to extract data and export to csv format etc so even if you don't have excel you can import csv data into other spreadsheets of ms "clone" office types.

You need to ensure you have apache web server installed on your Windows machine

Then for example -- this is on Linux but identical GUI on Windows

It doesn't need Apache; it works perfectly well under Windows IIS.

The problem with phpmyadmin that I found (I've not used it in years) is that it is at the mercy of PHP timeouts and errors when exporting large multi-gigabyte databases and it can't really be relied on like an app such as heidisql or my preferred Navicat.

Navicat is fine for professional organisations etc - but it's not free software. HediSQL is good too (and free). Php (V8) seems stable enough. Mind you if one is happy with using data queries directly in EXCEL that's also ok but you need to ensure ODBC for Mysql / mariadb is installed. and it's a bit more tricky.

I'm messing about with the WSL currently where php seems fairly "Unbreakable". That's primarily why I'm using Apache - for the WSL.
