Having annoying issue with Snipping Tool on Windows 11

But starting a few days ago it doesn't auto-save, and I need to click a "Capture" button.

What you need to do is turn off quick markup on the first snip screen and the behavior will go back to what it was before.

Click on the button so it is not highlighted anymore.

How /where did you access that Capture drop-down menu?

Try opening snip tool with Windows key + Shift + S and see if it is there.

I have Windows set to open snip tool when I press Print Screen and that is what I normally use to open snip tool.

Setting > Bluetooth & devices > Keyboard

Not on my system. The quick markup was not highlighted and I still was being prompted to "capture." When I enabled quick markup, the capture window had more options, but when I disabled quick markup I still get (just) the capture button.

The option for quick markup is there when I press print screen button.
Aha. My system also brings up the Snipping Tool using the <PrtSc key>. AND... it automatically saves without prompting.

If I access Snipping Tool via <shitt+winkey+s> or via Search "Snipping tool", I get the annoying prompt to capture.

Guess it's time to teach this old dog a new trick: Use PrtSc for screen grabs.

Thanks!

So, when I did one of the more recent Windows updates, it removed options? Swell.

No. His screenshot was a bit bigger than yours.
