Did you verify that you don't have native Firmware-based TPM available to your machine?

Is this directed to me? To answer: a resounding "yes." It seems: either you have the physical header on your board that requires a physical chip OR you have the capability to enable a firmware version of the TPM in your BIOS, consistent with AMD or Intel. Even checked and searched for Intel PTT in the BIOS, of course it wasn't there.

I have the former condition, something I've been aware of almost since I got this motherboard 11 months ago. :)

Edit: it seems you can have both. I just found the firmware version, never thought to look there.

Cool. Just making sure. Not everyone was aware of the existence of fTPM at all.

None of my machines (4 in current use) will pass this test. I'm not an expert like many of you here, but i have been tinkering with and using these machines for a while. I don't know what percentage of Windows 10 users currently have a machine which meets criteria for 11, but it can't be too large as these machines have been around for a while and the old ones are still usable and being used. Most users who run into this problem won't be running out to buy a new computer, nor even tinkering with bios. they just will stay with what they have and be annoyed. To me sounds like a big fail for Windows 11 if Microsoft sticks to this tack.

TPM is used only for Windows Hello and Bitlocker purposes.
If we use a simple password, instead of Windows Hello PIN, or We use a 3rd-party disk encrypting tools.

Why MS is pulling up TPM, so older PCs and older processors than 8th gen Intel and 2nd gen Ryzen will be toast in 2025?
They can even disable the feature if no TPM and supported processor, so no old pcs will be on electronics recycler.

Strange because your Asus board supports TPM and should be in your bios.... either as TPM or PTT
Look in your Advanced \ PCH-FW configuration in your bios ....even if you don't have the chip yet which should only cost you about 12 bucks ....you can still turn it on without having the chip plugged in...

Well, you don't have to upgrade today. or tomorrow. Or even in the beginning of 2022.

Windows 10 has support through 14 Oct 2025. Plenty of time to upgrade down the line.

[EDIT: I left this next statement out and it threw the context of the 3 lines following completely off! My apologies to bdogg for seemingly pointing a finger at him alone]

This is addressed to everyone reading this thread and other threads regarding unsupported machines, PC Health Check app, and others: {end edit]

And, as I've repeatedly said - we just got the info yesterday - nothing is set in stone thus far. They've already backtracked on several items.

Getting all antsy about it on the day after announcement before an official build has even been released is pointless.

We need more information that Microsoft hasn't provided yet. and what they have provided is still subject to change.

I had a feeling this might be the case....

Neither PCs meet the requirement, i7 rig no TPM and unsupported processor, AMD Ryzen fails on just the CPU being first generation, TPM etc all OK, motherboard will take up to Generation 3 with the latest bios so I'm going that route as I was going to upgrade it anyway before this happened ;o)

I can drop in Zen3 on my mobo, but I don't need it right now.

You are 100% correct. I found it under PCH/FW, exactly where you said it would be. Check this out:

why not 112.PNG

I was then able to restore my Insiders Beta channel status immediately. Awesome!

Well, you don't have to upgrade today. or tomorrow. Or even in the beginning of 2022.

Windows 10 has support through 14 Oct 2025. Plenty of time to upgrade down the line.

I appreciate your response and agree of course. Not getting antsy. I might even have a new machine or two by then. Most people here and elsewhere have looked at sophisticated ways to get around this. I just think it would be a big mistake for Microsoft to go this route, and really, to have gone as far as they did with it already. But maybe they're just trying to see what the reaction would be. So i put in my $0.02. :)

After reading this, I tend to agree more with both their aims and their reasoning behind the requirements.

However, I do apologize - while it seemed I was saying you in particular were getting antsy I clearly did not make it obvious that I was trying to say that in general versus aiming it at you. I apologize.

A lot of posts here, at Windows Questions and tenForums have been people getting close to irate just because their PC is showing as not supported. So many have completley overlooked everything I wrote in that reply, so I was trying to reply to the thread, and didn't make the distinction of where my reply to you ended and where what I wrote was for everyone to read....

I'll fix it

EDIT - fixed.

Again, sorry about that.

You are 100% correct. I found it under PCH/FW, exactly where you said it would be. Check this out:

I was then able to restore my Insiders Beta channel status immediately. Awesome!

Windows 10 2009 is really 20H2.
MS is changing from the old naming scheme to the new scheme.

2009 means year 2020, 9th month. Like 2004 meant year 2020, 4th month.

The new naming scheme is like this...

20H1 is year 2020 first half, and 20H2 is year 2020 second half.

Now we're on 21H1 or year 2021 first half.
Thanks GHOT well said. So is 21H2 Windows 11??

My guess would be... sort of. Either then or 22H1.
MS did say that 21H2 was gonna be the big one, this year.

In the past, H1 was always the big one... and H2 the left-overs.
But they said this year it would be reversed.

They've said Windows 10 21H2 is coming, independent of Win11.

Although, in fairness, that is aimed more at enterprise than end users.....

As has been said hundreds of times over the last day - the tool is buggy, pay no attention to it atm!!!
Will do! To tired today. A long and hot day at work. Out in the sun all day long at 35c. But in the morning! Hardware install just to prove it's janky. An image has been taken. No worries! Tomorrow is D-Day!! Just setup Rufus for the install. We will see in the morning if it's janky or not. Check my specs and see for yourself if it will install or not. Come tomorrow morning I'll wakeup early. I'll be thinking of the negative's and positive's. We shall see in the morning.
