I have just clean installed Windows 11 on a machine that's so far beneath the minimum specs that it could pass as a submarine....

That would be my little netbook, an Acer Aspire One D270.

Specs: Legacy BIOS, no TPM or secure boot. Intel Atom N2600, 2GB RAM. Even the display at 1024x600 doesn't meet Win11's minimum requirement of a "High definition (720p) display". And there are no display drivers available, so it's stuck with the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.

Two things to be reminded of (consider)...

1) Most laptop BIOS' are extremely limited in the options offered compared to a desktop BIOS. Some laptops group features into one setting. Here TPM could be enabled under one setting, say UEFI, while not giving you access to the specific TPM setting. Remember most laptops have their own security features built in being these are mobile devices so it would be wise not to nilly willy mess with the BIOS.

2) If you're system is tied to either legacy or UEFI, toggling one or the other off or on could cause boot problems. In other words if the laptop is set to legacy and you enabled UEFI, you could end up having boot problems. The same goes the opposite UEFI to legacy.

All that said, there are ways to tell where your system sits....

Being a DEV leak, it will install on unsupported hardware.

It's not until we start getting official final releases that we'll know if all these installs now on unsupported hardware will be able to continue to use Win11 on those same machines.

True.. at this point no one knows if MS will soften the requirements. I know I passed every test but one and I'll get that addressed in Sept or Oct.

Of my original PC population, 6/10 met requirements. Right now it's 6/9 because I gave the oldest one away to a charity that installs Linux on older PCs and gives them to school-age kids for online learning and family use: Reglue.org. I'm planning to upgrade both of my i7-6700 desktops, and I'll give away my Surface Pro 3 when I can afford a replacement. It won't be running Windows 11, though...

Ed: No 1st gen Ryzen / ThreadRippers are on the supported CPU list - and most (if not all) were first available in 2017.

8th gen Intel was announced Sep 2017 and released Oct 2017.

So, that might push it further out, yeah?

My old HP laptop fails because it does not UEFI BIOS. My AMD desktop fails because of the older FX processor and although it has a TPM header it is currently impossible to find a compatible TPM module.

Unless you're using some workarounds, you're doing a lot better than me. I booted into my Win10 Dev Insider build, ran Windows Update, and it failed almost immediately -- with the same Secure Boot and TPM error messages as the leaked preview. Other folks have reported messages about updates and rebooting, but all I got was the failure message. And when I run the Checkers, the Boot (Legacy) and TPM stuff are the only "red" indicators I get. I thought those requirements were going to be suppressed so us Insiders count install and run the Win10 previews -- but they weren't for me.
