Solved Post Clean install issues: OneDrive etc.

I would not do this, as one thing is sure if you ever need to bring it back in future, you will scratch your head wondering why it is not working until you remember the HOSTS edit.
Thanks to GDPR, MS publishes the endpoints required for Windows 10/11 services to work.

Published endpoints (or DNS entries) fall into three categories:
1. Hosts required to determine the latest version for Edge, Office, Teams, and OneDrive apps
2. Hosts required to download updates for above products (distinct from WU CDN's)
3. Hosts required to run online services, regardless of updates (including MSA authentication, WL shared resources)

Editing HOSTS is the least dangerous answer, compared to random reg edits.

My point was about remembering the edit when you need to reverse it.

Most people rarely ever change the Hosts file.

I bet most people would forget they had done it after a couple of years - I would. At most I would remember I edited it for some reason but not what. I would work it out in the end, but it would not spring to mind instantly.

I take the view, only do such edits if security essential, and I consider the risk of onedrive spuriously reinstalling itself very low, and easy to uninstall i.e. at most a minor inconvenenience , so why bother?

In the end, it is up to the OP to decide. I am just providing an opinion.

Onedrive is the last thing I would remove. I only uninstall it if I get issues, but reinstall again therafter.

Everybody has a different opinion of using Onedrive. To me, it is a vital part of my workflow, so I can access key data literally anywhere in world without lugging drives around.

@cereberus , care to share how do you reinstall One Drive?

Thanks.
