I personally do not use online storage for anything serious, I use my mahoosive 15GB of onedrive for accessing a small amount of data between my own devices, mostly when I am going away when I can upload a few GB of pertinent data and access it if needed, but this is not much these days as I have all my devices on my own internal network and I can load this up before leaving home.
The other reason I do not use online storage is the basic cost of doing so I My local data at home is backed up but is measured in TeraBytes and that much online storage is not cheap
My phone images are not too important to me as I use real DSLR cameras and use RAW format for my photography, I also have unlimited automatic storage for "photos" taken on my Android devices through my Prime membership which means I can occasionally scan through and download any images from my phone that are worth keeping
