No it does not the policy only applies to driver update from Windows Update, you can still manually update driver.

Maybe for security reasons, it installs older driver all you need to do is install the newest version in top of it.

That's what I do. Hence both drivers showing in Rapr.

The newest driver will in use by Windows, the oldest driver there to roll back on in case of buggy driver.

For me the old driver is there simply to stop WU updating it again.

I use wushowhide From microsoft and choose to hide the drivers I don't want to be updated.

I like the saying.... "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

So, unless there's some issues - i don't bother installing the latest driver. Current driver is from April - and no - Windows doesn't update a driver - if i already have one installed (only if i'm missing a driver - and one is available through Windows Updates - it gets triggered for an install). Can't even install the latest Updates - if i don't disable the firewall and do a manual search.

Btw, did you use Windows Updates - to install the nVidia drivers the first time around? Cause I used the public nVidia installer and doesn't even show-up in Windows Updates (not even as optional update) - while searching for new updates.
