I hope somebody can help me with a big problem. It has started since I tried to update my Desktop version of Whatsapp. I spent many hours trying to get an answer from Whatsapp but that proved impossible – speaking to a chatbot!! So here goes…

I cannot update my Whatsapp on PC. I get a message saying I need to update, I go to Microsoft Store and click on Download which puts the Whatsapp installer on my desktop. But when I go to open it I get message saying it cannot download program. There is also a message saying something called “Feedback Hub” is missing. When I try to download Feedback from MS store the “Get” button is greyed out so I cannot download. I tried downloading a different app from MS Store and again got these error messages. I feel this is a Windows problem and not necessarily a Whatsapp one.
  • So, what do I try now?? I have tried restoring the last system image I made with Aomei Backupper but it has not fixed the problem. I also tried SFC /scannow and DISM but again, nothing
  • I’ve been told by Whatsapp chatbot that it might be my Windows Update setting that is interfering. I usually have it switched off to avoid all the updates but now that I want to switch it on it will not let me. It reverts to “Retry” every time so how can I fix that?
  • If the worst comes to the worst I suppose I could use one of the Windows recovery options. I have already tried the REPAIR option but it made no difference. Is it safe to use the “reinstall windows” – I am presuming it would reinstall the OS but would all my data remain intact ?? My PC came pre-loaded with W11 so I do not have any disks etc. Will Windows allow me a fresh install and might it fix both the Feedback Hub and Windows update problems ?
  • If I go on Whatsapp site and get to the QR code I can link my mobile with my PC. PC then shows all my chats but if I close app and then reopen it I get nothing except a message saying I need update. Clicking this sends me back to MS store which starts the same cycle of errors– just a screen telling me I need to update (which I cannot do) Obviously I do not want to go through getting QR code and Linked device every time I want to open on Desktop.
  • How do I remove every last trace of Whatsapp bearing in mind that it does not even show up in Revo Uninstaller. I also cannot find any folders or files when I search via Explorer. I just want to be able to reinstall Whatsapp from fresh.

I tried getting into Terminal (admin) via settings . Can see it but cannot see any option to Uninstall. Also, when I type in wt.exe message comes up saying Windows cannot find it.... Anything else to try?? Obviously I need to somehow uninstall it

I am not sure what you’re doing. I suggested you uninstall and reinstall the Microsoft Store App.

I see no link to uninstall Terminal. If the Microsoft Store app isn’t functioning correctly (I don’t know) then you wont be able to install terminal via the Store. I don’t know how else to get it, someone might. Github I suspect?

I have been on Microsoft store, downloaded the Installer for Terminal but I get the same error message that it cannot download and takes me back again to MS Store.

What about my question of do I go for a complete reinstall of W11 through the System Recovery route? Will that load Terminal & MS Store back ?? I've tried everything and it looks like there is no other option....

There is no way you followed that Tutorial I posted already. It’s an option to try repair the Store.

But yeah, knock yourself out and reinstall. Just so you know, the only way to do it and keep your apps and files is an In-Place upgrade repair and you said you did it already. So backup your personal files. Good luck

Hi - pls don't give up on helping me...I obviously clicked a wrong button. I also tried restoring last system image I made using Aomei Backupper but it made no difference. I have a Windows Image file on my hard disk (it's about 7gb) Is that something I can use before total reinstall of Windows??

I've already said that I tried to uninstall WhatsApp but it doesn't show up anywhere. I also tried to download a random program from Microsoft Store and, like WhatsApp, it gave me the Installer but that just won't work.. It just takes me back into ms store again
Im sure Its a Windows problem which is why I think i need to do a reinstall without losing my data.

I've just tried Winget for a second time. Message says it has found existing package installed then says No available upgrade found. No newer package available from the configures sources.
