Solved System crash while playing GTA V

When they said they "repaired" it they most likely either sent your a new motherboard or refurbished one. I assume this was under an RMA. They normally only do board repairs if you request it for an out-of-warranty item. Of course you will pay for this.

That is verified by a Google (AI) search:

BTW, when I sent an ASUS motherboard back to them under an RMA they sent me back a refurbished one. Unfortunately, it did not have a CPU retention bracket. I complained to them about that. They told me I should have removed the one from the old motherboard before I sent it to them. In other words I should have stripped the motherboard of all parts that are not permanently attached.
I would agree with you, except there were some identifying features on the board (my Corsair AIO mount backplate) and the invoice stated they “repaired it” this was an in warranty RMA.

I negotiated terms with ASUS for another RMA. Hopefully it goes better this time around.

Nice.

Will it be a new motherboard or refurbished?

After installing the RMA motherboard are you planning to continue with the old Windows installation or are you planning a clean install?

I’m not sure if it will be new or refurbished but I insisted that I whatever I get back is in excellent physical and functional condition. I’ll probably do a clean windows install once I get the replacement.

Quick update. Asus has the board and is claiming they are going to repair it again. 🙄 I have asked for my case to escalated or my money refunded.

Quick update…after a long battle with Asus about my defect motherboard, I was able to get Gamers Nexus involved. Asus is now in the process of doing a buyback on my motherboard. I’ll be buying a new board from a different brand. I’ll run the recommended tests once I get my computer rebuilt.

4) Enable Regback:

5) Create a new restore point:

6) Read this link on Windows Driver Verifier (WDV):

Enable and Disable Driver Verifier in Windows 10

7) Learn the methods to recover from BSOD caused by WDV by booting into safe mode and running one or more of these commands:

verifier /reset

verifier /bootmode resetonbootfail

(option nine and seven)

8) Plan to run the tool with various customized test settings.

a) Test all non-Microsoft drivers

b) Test no Microsoft drivers

c) For the first run of WDV select the 3 customized tests displayed in the TF tutorial

9) Whenever the WDV tool is started if there is no immediate BSOD then open administrative command prompt and copy and paste:

verifier /querysettings

Post a share link.

Customized tests will then be posted for the next run of WDV.

WDV can run continuously during the testing.

I'm still working on this. I started getting some memory-specific crashes, so I've ordered a new set of RAM from the QVL list from a different brand. Additionally, I tried running Who Crashed, and all of my dump files were corrupted.

I hope the new ram works, this issue must be tiring.

I started getting some memory-specific crashes

How were you able to differentiate memory problems: RAM vs GPU vs other?

Are you swap testing and able to get a return / refund?

I think so, the new system was stable until I enabled XMP. I disabled it, and the crashes continued. I haven't seen any video-related crashes or had display issues since installing the Gigabyte GPU.
The RAM is on my new Gigabyte motherboard's QVL list, but I cross-referenced with Corsair's RAM checker, and it isn't listed for 13/14 gen CPUs installed on this board. As a replacement, I decided to go with Kingston Fury Beast, and the model I chose is listed on the motherboard's QVL and Kingston's RAM checker. So hopefully that should fix everything.

Confirm CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-14900K

WDV is free.
If performed first the tool can be used to rule in / out driver problems.
