These things are usually OK -- ensure heat sink thing is properly attached though if you get an enclosure and separate NVme stick. Also if you attach to USBC / USB3 then the speed is limited to the bus speed of the USB3/USBC port -- usually still pretty good --I run a few Windows2Go type of systems from an external device like this (all from vhdx physical files) -- responst time is fine for typical Windows stuff -- I don't do games or edit a load of multi-media. Photoshop is my limit on that stuff and that still works pretty well.
