Solved Trying to upgrade from W11Pro 22H2 to 23H2 on unsupported hardware

D:\setup.exe \product setup
from the tutorial example

I think it must be D:\setup.exe /product server

Not sure what that has to do with my issue. I'm running it from my W11 desktop.
Peter, what build are you currently running?

Have you tried the note under step 6 below to see if it may still work?

That's the way I'm doing it.

copy the appraiserres.dll to a safe place.
Then delete the appraiserres.dll in the ISO source folder

I tried the latter and after saving appraiserres.dll to my documents folder and then tried to delete it from Sources. Even after taking ownership it will not delete. I am an Admin so that should work.

To delete the appraiserres.dll you have to extract the ISO to a new folder. I always use 7z for that.
Don't use the C-drive. Make sure that you select the right one. There is another appraiser...
The setup.exe can be started from that folder.

what about the setupprep /product server ?

At which juncture I'm giving up for today as my eyes are getting too strained and have a splitting headache.
I'm going to say it again. MS have a nerve expecting every Windows User who has a machine older than 2 days (I exaggerate) has to buy a new one.

You don't just delete appraiserres.dll. You have to create a blank text file and rename it to appraiserres.dll

I made my experience with TPM 1.2 and unsupported CPUs only. Your machine doesn't support Secure Boot as well.
If you use the appraiser-method you have to do one thing:
When you get the message from post # 12 (system requirements) you open the Installation Folder:
C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources. The installation starts from this folder and not from the ISO. Here you delete
appraiser.sdb and appraiserres.dll
When deleted you have to click on <Back> and then on <Next> again.
