Solved Trying to upgrade from W11Pro 22H2 to 23H2 on unsupported hardware

I used this tute today using Rufus to create USB media to accomplish the upgrade from W11Pro 22H2 to 23H2 on unsupported hardware. The installation went to 100%, restarted and BSOD’d. I think it was because I forgot to pull the media out before it restarted. It then wound back to what it was before. I’ll try again tomorrow and that time will look for logs. I’m using an iPad to post this as I haven’t access to my PC a.t.m.

You don't need RUFUS. Make sure that the System that get the Inplacement is set to be the DEFAULT boot system.
Just run the update from the mounted ISO and check the REG before you run setup.exe
BSOD is saying what. It might be just a wrong BCD-entry.
Delete the Windows.old folder, if there is one.

Notepad and copy these 3 lines :

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup]
"AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU"=dword:00000001

safe as update.reg
doubleclick to add it to your WIN 11 to be updated.

C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources
Fast Boot disabled

Follow the tutorial above (provided by our very own helpful alien).
It has a reg patch you can just download and apply.

Not needed when running an Inplacement.
Another thing might be helpful

powercfg /H off
@ExBrit Check if you have all the 3 lines in your reg-file

And as @POLYSIUS mentioned, you need to run it as Admin as well.

OK, ran the reg file successfully and got this when I ran setup from the mounted ISO:

OK. The Reg-File from "Brink" contains the secure boot entry. Try that

Ih God, I just realised that .reg files were defaulting to Notepad. Have corrected that and will post back.

It's still doing it. I must be doing something wrong but I can't figure out what that is.

Shawn I've applied the .reg file and still am getting the need for a TPM and Secure Boot.

Does RUFUS use the AppraiserRes.dll hack? I don't know. Do you remember the BSOD Error code when you used Rufus?

Peter, what build are you currently running?

Have you tried the note under step 6 below to see if it may still work?
