Just an FYI...

Resource Hacker is an alternative to Customizer God. It can be driven from the command line, which helps with customizations that get reverted by a repair or major update. It's also still maintained.

Resource Hacker is not as easy to use as Customizer God. I use it for the files C:\Windows\Branding\Basebrd\basebrd.dll and C:\Windows\Branding\shellbrd\shellbrd.dll which cannot be modified with Customizer God. These contain the Windows logo in winver and legacy System Properties. Since 24H2 the legacy System Properties shows only the OEM logo (which can be changed with Winaero Tweaker) and not the Windows logo, but I modify both files anyway because I don't know which one is for winver and which one is for legacy System Properties.

I think I found it, but the display is pretty tricky !!
Looks like old versions are also part of the file.

I just guess the registry commands which version to display.
Maybe @abactuon could help with this ?

It can let you customize the battery icons
and works better, but Never modify the shell32.dll

Whatever you do NEVER MODIFY SHELL32.DLL or the system will not boot due to signature mismatch! Yes, I tried that too, lesson learned.

Regarding the Windows logo in legacy System Properties, yes, I have that too in 25H2. If I remember correctly it wasn't there in 24H2. Whatever. I have corrected the mistake "Windows 10" with "Windows 11" and added the blue Windows 7 orb in front.

System Properties 25H2.webp

To do that, I used Resource Hacker to extract the original .png files from the respective .dll and replaced them with custom same size .png images. I also made sure they had the same filenames, just in case. I then carefully replaced each image with the respective same size custom image. The OEM logo and info was replaced with Winaero Tweaker. Far easier than messing with Registry directly.

To get the Windows 10 icons, copy the following file from a Windows 10 system to another folder and extract the icons with Customizer God:

C:\Windows\SystemResources\imageres.dll.mun

In Windows 11 copy the respective file to another folder since it cannot be modified directly and replace the desired icons with those from Windows 10. If you want to replace them all, press CTRL+A to select all icons, then click replace and browse to the folder with the icons from Windows 10. To replace original file with the modified file you must first change owner of both the folder and the specific file to the Administrators group and give full access rights to both the folder and the specific file to the Administrators group. Then you must open a Command Prompt or third-party file manager, end task File Explorer, replace the file and then load File Explorer again. If the changes don't take effect immediately you might have to clear the icons cache.

I prefer Windows 8.1 icons which are more 3D than the flat Windows 10/11 default icons:

Windows 11 Quick Access.webp

The red "Close" button is from the Aero Lite theme, available from within Winaero Tweaker. The old Windows 10 style File Explorer without the annoying tabs is courtesy of Explorer Patcher. The cut-copy-paste and other icons top right are from Open Shell. Install latest version to avoid some bugs with Explorer Patcher.

You don't need Hyper-V, VMWare Workstation is now free, or you can use Oracle's VirtualBox.

The red "Close" button is from the Aero Lite theme, available from within Winaero Tweaker. The old Windows 10 style File Explorer without the annoying tabs is courtesy of Explorer Patcher. The cut-copy-paste and other icons top right are from Open Shell. Install latest version to avoid some bugs with Explorer Patcher.
yeah like update conflicts, when you sleep/shutdown/restart/update the screen goes black so you have to manually uninstall/reinstall

i will run virturalbox when i have my 1 TB external drive or i borrow my brothers empty D drive from the PC

View attachment 158461

To do that, I used Resource Hacker to extract the original .png files from the respective .dll and replaced them with custom same size .png images. I also made sure they had the same filenames, just in case. I then carefully replaced each image with the respective same size custom image. The OEM logo and info was replaced with Winaero Tweaker. Far easier than messing with Registry directly.
are you trying to make windows 11 look like windows 7
watch this video

i would reccomend hiding the search, task view and language swithcher (ENG) icon and get a fake action centre icon

download iconviewer, download the pnidui, imageres, sndvolsso and actioncentre and click propetires anf export them
